Lenovo S10 users complaining of endless fan noise
Lenovo's S10 netbook has always had a reputation for being a bit warm to the touch, but it sounds like the little lappy has some more serious issues with heat -- the official Lenovo support forums are flooded with users complaining that the fan endlessly spins up and down. Making matters worse, Lenovo apparently hasn't acknowledged the problem, and some customers report that S10s sent in for repair return in exactly the same condition. That doesn't sound totally awesome -- anyone else having this problem?

Lenovo makes Great machines and has great service. you probably just bought the wrong laptop from them. I am a proud T61 owner an have never had a problem PERIOD. some jerk broke a hinge when he stepped on it once though, i sent it in and it was back in 24 hours. Great company, one fan problem shouldn't be enough to keep people away. also....if you bought SL300, SL400 or SL 500, your cheap and shouldn't have expected anything better. T, R, And X are what its all about.
I hate my Lenovo S10.
I bought it on New Years Eve and I was totally stoked about it. At first the fan did not bother me, but now it drives me insane. I also hate that video play sucks!!
I'm now looking to replace it.
I just wrote about my T43 fan two weeks ago. I have an audio sample of how loud it was before I replaced it myself.

Lenovo is driving the ThinkPad name into the ground. Tisk tisk, China.
my is is very loud and HOT, it would be better if it were just on all the time than having to spin up and down.
does anybody have trouble with the trackpad zooming while browsing and while in word?
I have had my S-10 (Red) for months, and the One Key recovery system worked great the one time I had to use it. Further, I have *not* been having the fan noise problems others have been complaining about. I think the S-10 is a great machine.
My T43p's fan always used to annoy me. It was noisy and would tend to come on and off every few minutes. Going full blast as soon as the laptop was turned on for a few seconds didn't help either.
Thankfully my T400 runs so cool, and when it does need a fan I can't ever really recall even hearing noise from it.
My S10 (manufactured Dec 22) seems to be working fine. It already had the latest BIOS. Default behavior in OS X seems to have the fan kick in around 55°C, but sometimes it stays on after hibernate. It's much quieter than my previous laptop and doesn't really bother me if it's on. I'd rather have it be on and cool than turning off an on anyway.
Yepp, same for me. Noise and additional slowdown of processor speed.
S10 is terribly noisy, I returned the device to the store the next day after I purchased it and picked up samsung NC10. Now there is silence :)
I've had this problem... If you can call it a problem. I mean, yeah, the fan spins up and down, but it's not THAT loud. If people are complaining about it, they must be trying to use the thing while escaping James Bond.
The fan really isn't that loud, but I did notice an improvement when I upgraded the RAM.
