We knew the loophole in German contract law that
would-be Mac cloners HyperMegaNet claimed exempted them from the OS X EULA was too good to be true, and it sounds like they do too: in an interview with the
New York Times, owner Dirk Bloessl says that although he doesn't "fear Apple," all Cupertino needs to do to shut his PearC machines down is label the Leopard retail box "to be installed only on a Mac" or even just point out that the license is available on the Apple website. Until that happens, Dirk says he'll be selling his hackintoshes to anyone who wants "a fast machine, but does not need a good looking computer," even though he knows "the product does not have a long life time." That's certainly more reasonable than the
increasingly wild-eyed defenses mounted by
Psystar, but we've got a feeling Apple's German legal team is going to crack down just as hard.
You can configure these with a Blu-Ray writer...
That seems odd to me.
blu-ray writing is supported by OS X and alot of software that allows you to burn disc's, like Toast. OS X however does NOT support blu-ray playback. So if you wanted blu-ray for data storage you can knock yourself out, but as for movies, it's not supported at the moment.
What about writing an HD movie file to a BD data disk and playing it through Quicktime?
Doesn't seem at all odd to me. If you want to make yourself visible, you have to offer something Apple doesn't.
patriks, i was referring to the lack of bd video codecs in os x.
Blu-ray is a dead end as a physical format... so Apple will probably never support it... spinning plastic wheels do not make sense in the age of fast wireless. Google: WiHD --- and you can see why Blu-ray as a disc format will never happen.
Steve Jobs said it best... "Blu-ray is a bag of hurt"
:)
I quite like having a few HD movies on a large flashdisk, im not so sure about HD wifi streaming... it takes me all night to stream lost and thats like ... 480p
Just for the record Microsoft don't have to support all the different hardware that a PC can have, OEMs do like HP, Dell etc.
Sorry if I didn't read all the previous comments, but perhaps it's just bad German translation that "our product won't last long" might indicate to potential buyers that their hardware is unreliable, instead of "our product line may be discontinued because of Apple and other legal woes, etc."

All that work... and you didnt account for the slight difference in width between the comment box and the comment display...
Comparing Mac's with Porsches is the most ludicrous thing I've ever seen. Something more accurate would be, a Mac is like a rebadged Ford with a few style changes; then the hood is welded shut so you can't change anything if it breaks. And then it is sold at a Porsche price. That's more like it.
Apple fanboyism is so obnoxious. I hope Apple burns in hell.
That's funny...
See, popular opinion OUTSIDE of Mac fan circles is that Macs are the luxury cars of the computer industry. They aren't Porsches they're more like Aston Martins and Bentlys.
Also, seriously, if you DON'T like Macs, then move the hell along. If you're not going to buy one of their computers, then they have no reason to give a damn about you because you're NOT their customer. If that's the way you feel, then it isn't too hard a task for you to LEGGO THEIR EGGO.
You Anti-Mac guys are the annoying ones here. If you don't like the machines, then why even comment on them?
I don't like generic PC's. I don't sit around telling people how crappy I think they are. I just snicker to myself when they complain about their crappy PC's FOR me. They usually do a good enough job describing how horrendous they are without MY help.
Says who? For the prices you get an Apple machine I can get a much better "generic" PC.
Not only it'll perform better, but it will run a much wider range of applications and it will be upgradeable.
There isn't really anything attractive in OS X that makes me want buy it.
