New slimline Acer Aspire One slimline pics, alleged specs leak
After seeing the tiniest bit of evidence this morning of a slimmer Acer Aspire One, an anonymous reader has bragged to netbooknews.de that he's gotten some hands-on time with the laptop, and brought along some purported pics of it as evidence. Dimension-wise, we're looking at 0.95 inches thick, 10 inches wide, 7.28 inches deep. As for specs, it's pretty much what you'd expect from a netbook: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 with 945GME graphics, 1024 x 600 resolution, 1GB RAM, 802.11 a/b/g, a 3-cell battery that's said to last a discouraging 3 hours or less, and "apparently" integrated UMTS -- no word on whether or not this thing's packing SSD. Overall, the mysterious individual with an enigmatic hat gave it positive impressions, with special props given to the keyboard and touchpad. Hit up the read link for more pics, and Acer? Give us some official glamor shots soon, please.

Ross, did you suddenly get a new job with the Department of Redundancy Department?
Since I assume they'll change the headline:
"New slimline Acer Aspire One slimline pics, alleged specs leak"
Maybe he was particularly emphasizing the slimness? Like, condescending sarcasm, perhaps?
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.............oh sorry , was so bored with all these half arsed junk netbooks i just nodded off. Acer are literally having a complete laugh if they think they can sell this tat. There are so mnay other net books on the market already that completely obliterate this and have 2 times the battery life. If I was them, I would stop right now and not even bother bringing this junk to market. 3 hrs battery? having an absolute laugh....
Exactly. Why are all these companies releasing new models with last years specs when there is a new processor and chipset out?
Yeesh.
Please disregard this comment.
K.
damn I regarded it...sorry.
Honestly now, is there really any diversity in the "subnetbook" space anymore? Since the CPU, chipset, and RAM are almost always the same, you're just hoping that your company's shiny outside attracts customers better than the other guy!
Instructions for discerning netbooks:
1. Look at screen size
2. Look at price
3. Look at keyboard and trackpad differences
Gimme a friggin' 6-cell battery!
Wouldn't be very slimline with a 6-cell battery now would it?
the Asus eeepc 1000he is still the best netbook in the market!
Shouldn't "Other news of import" be Other news of importance on the dauly roundup?
should be daily, sorry, can't believe I made a spelling mistake while correcting a spelling mistake.
what spelling mistake were you correcting? 'Import' works fine
I'm trying to work out exactly what specs on this are any better than my current Acer Aspire One. If anything, the only thing that would interest me is longer battery life, or getting that damn resolution better than 1024x600 without having to do your own change every time. Seriously, the only reason I chose this one over the other netbooks was the keyboard size. This is really not much smaller than the keyboard on my old Dell. It's still big enough for proper touch typing. The EEPC is far too small to type effectively. But yes, a 6 cell battery would be nice.
Asus eeepc 1000he really is good.
what's up with all the new netbook with fix 1gb ram, what are they thinking?
The reason all netbooks are the same is Microsoft won't let them use XP unless it's under certain specs.
ideal notebook that i would buy at this very second
10 or less inch screen
2 gb ram
over 60gb
1.6 ghz
3 usb
6+ hour battery life
cost less than 600
so i wont be buying this netbook
How few portable computers you see with the power connectors on the right side.
