ASUS G71Gx boats of GeForce GTX 260M graphics, other extravagances

A followup to last year's G71, the G71Gx has ASUS at its extravagant best. The 17-inch laptop packs a WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution, backed up by a brand-new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M graphics card with 1GB of VRAM. There's also room for 12GB of RAM and dual 500GB hard drives inside, along with Blu-ray and Altec Lansing speakers to wrap it up with a bow. No word on price, but we're guessing ASUS isn't stuffing these things in cereal boxes.

I got my laptop for $1000 and it plays blu-rays and has a 10GHz processor, 24GB of RAM, and 300TB of flash memory! I don't need this outdated junk!

Nvidia's marketing here is outright misleading. The desktop 9800 got renamed to GT250, but the laptop 9800 was improved and renamed GT280M. Nvidia should just have been honest and said that they cannot make a GT280-series laptop card yet, and just called the laptop card the GT250M or anything but a 280M.

Oh, wow! This is an amazing laptop! I hope the processor is any of these: Intel Core 2 Extreme Mobile Processor, Intel Core i7 (not likely) and Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition. Sadly, the Core i7 processors can only be powered by desktops T_T

I hope when Microsoft releases Windows 7, they'll make more future laptops with the OS and better specs! Can't wait 'til I get my new gaming laptop from Asus!

I have the G71G-A1 and let me tell you that it is just amazing, blows most desktops Ive used away even alienware. So this baby is like mine on steroids this thing has to be insane especially with the upgraded video card and twice the ram that i have even tho i think 12 is overkill
