Apple's touch-screen netbook gets another shot of rumor juice
Yesterday's Apple netbook rumor courtesy of the Commercial Times / DigiTimes combo just received a boost of credibility by sources (presumably independent) speaking to the Dow Jones Newswire. Citing "two people close to the situation," the DJ pretty much regurgitates the same info: Wintek will provide the touch-screen display which Quanta will manufacture into an Apple netbook as early as the second half of the year. The only new bit of information is the screen size said to be between 9.7 and 10-inches.

If they basically make a Kindle-sized or legalpad-sized iPod Touch, I will be all over this. Keep all of the features of the Touch (i.e. apps), 3G support, and a serious boost to their Inkwell handwriting recognition + a stylus. Done deal.
Who the hell needs a Mac netbook? I guess if you've just got another $2, 000 to blow on a computer that you really only need in select circumstances.
i wanna mac, and if this would be under 700 that'll be sick! but, its apple, not stupid microsoft which underprices things. haha. someone buy me the new ipod shuffle. i dont have shizz. im typing this on a windows 95. haha. an ibm aptiva to be exact.
Well would you look at this. When ever I argue with a apple fanboy all they can spout off about Microsoft or the PC in general is how they copy stuff.
Well not only did PC companies make the netbook first, HP also did touch screen first.
Fuck you apple fanboys piss me off
MacBook Mini
It will be a dual core atom
with 1gb Ram
64gb SSD
OS 10.6
Come with iLife and iWork - No more will there be a need for Office 2008
Touchscreen
Aluminum Casing
And will be targeted directly at College Students
Price Point 599
Still $400 cheaper than the lowest Macbook.
Same Price Point at the Mac Mini
And they will sell a matching External 1TB Hard Drive for the Dorm Room/Apartment for only $149
Great! Just before I go off to purchase an Apple iPod Touch this news comes out. grrr
this isn't news you twit. the ipod touch kicks every netbook's ass around the block.
if it's a touchscreen, why have the keybaord. I think they would do better with a tablet Pc. The Axiotron mod book is an overall better choice if your gonna spend the money anyway.
Guys guys guys...
I see a lot of whining and cribbing about Apple's products not having this and not having that.... but I honestly and strongly feel that those whiners on this forum and others are not the target market. It is as simple as that, if you find something is wrong with the releases Apple has made then rest assured U weren't cut out for it. Consumers world consumers world consumers world... U consumers do not know what U need or better said U'll just everything for nothing - meaning U want everything on the laptop/desktop/phone at almost as cheap as an ice cream cone...
well guess what, Apple is outrightly admitted that they are not looking to compete on terms of Market share but on terms of brand loyalty and whatever U'll say NO company and I reiterate, NO company in a long time has ever achieved the kind of admiration that Apple has. I doubt there are a lot of them around. Apple gives customers almost everything they would need out of their devices.
I take it that the netbook will be expensive and does that mean they are doing injustice. Guys U'll really need to understand Apple better before U'll post blasphemy on the net... so get real, earn Urself the money U need to buy the most expensive Macs and then U'll realize U're in elite company... that's when U'll realize what Apple is about... At least I have done that and I am bloody happy with the fact that my MacBook Air is an awesome product. True others see some short comings but for me, it blends so well that I never have wanted what is not there...
Regards,
True Mac Fan
I don't 600 is a bad price, that would be 400 under the cheapest computer they have. I'd love to have a small ultraportable mac; my imac works great but weighs a ton through the airport. A palmtop mac would make my day!
