Cupcake Android update coming to G1 in April
Well, after weeks of speculations and false alarms, it looks like T-Mobile's officially saying the "Cupcake" Android update will hit the G1 sometime next month. That's at least the word according to the T-Mo spokeperson Pocket-lint got hold of -- who went out of his way to disclaim any connection with the upcoming launch of the HTC Magic. In any event, we're hoping all this bake time has fixed some of those bugs and lag problems, but we'll see in a few weeks.

For exchange support, look at TouchDown. It uses WebDAV to connect to exchange, so you don't even need mobile support enabled, which a lot of admins don't like to do. For office support, there are two emerging solutions: QuickOffice, which already has viewers for DOC and XLS files, with editors on the way. There's also Documents To Go, which isn't available yet but apparently coming "real soon."
April 1. hhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Cupcake will have A2DP? So now I can use my Blackbox Mini Speakers? Will I be able to listen to AM radio like I used to do on my Windoz Mobile SDA with a wire. Seriously, all I want is to listen to NZ and other AM radio on my G1. Will Cupcake handle that?
Hahaha... I'd love to look back at how many of these stories have been posted over the past 6 months... It never happens... I'm posting this on May 4th and no Cupcake yet... I think it's a bluff!
how about the battery life of this thing. listen i have a g1 and have since the anitial launch. i want so much to love this thing i really do but the battery life is so pathetic that it almost cripples the phone in every way. cmon! the phone was promoted as 3g is sooo great and gps is awesome and wow the screen is soooo vibrant and big. well if i even dream about turning on any of these features i'd have to (REALLY) carry 3 batteries to get my phone to last 3 hours. I mean that for real. I'm not kidding at all.
how pathetic is that. i called support and they're like well turn of wifi and gps and 3g aaaaaandturn the screens brightness all the way down and the phone will last longer than 4 hours. Really? so i have to pretty much turn my phone into a sidekick to get it to have a normal bat. life. why market a phone with all these features when in a real world situation you can't even use them. anyone else feel this way and if so then why has virtually noone ever talk about it. i feel that the bat. life of this phone is its single biggest downfall. oh! and not putting a standard headphone jack in it also was dumb as all hell.
