Packard Bell drops "dot" netbook in favor of new, unannounced model

Well, it looks like Packard Bell's "dot" netbook just didn't capture that trademark Packard Bell flavor the company was looking for, as it has now officially ditched the netbook in favor of a new, as yet unannounced model. As you may recall, the dot was essentially just an original Acer Aspire One in disguise, with it packing an 8.9-inch display, an Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, and an optional 3G module, among other standard fare. Unfortunately, Packard Bell doesn't seem to be saying anything at all about the new model just yet, with it only going so far as to tell Pocket-lint that there will be "some changes made to the brand."

The Packard Bell brand name is still around?
They are over seas. They got purchased by Acer a while back.
I've been trying to convince someone on a UK auction site to let me buy a PB USB drive from them because I think owning one would be funny.
My first PC/POS was a PacardHell
That's what I said!
I haven't heard that name for years...
Ever since the cloud wallpaper days of Windows 95...
Packard Bell, the worst name in history of PC business!
eww packard bell
Ha, why is everyone getting into these netbooks? I mean Packard Bell? These are toys, and I don't understand why everyone is buzzing about them.
Everyone is jumping in because the R&D costs are extremely low and sales keep climbing.
People should just buy laptops, the extra size makes up for it in extra performance =]
Thats what hannah said

in case you missed that.
Because I prefer the small size with a 10" screen to the large size and WEIGHT of a full size laptop when I don't NEED the performance. If I need a decent car to get me from home to work, and pick a Mini Cooper, why would it matter if for $2000 more I could get a Mustang GT V8. I don't need the power, I don't need the size, even though they both meet my requirements.
Because I use netbook for emailing, web surfing, 'cloud' computing, and it has 6 to 8 hour battery life, weighs 2 pounds and is great for travel.
Actually netbooks are the better solution. Laptops are just too powerful for laptop-usage, and too weak to play recent games, and if they're not, they're too expensive.
that's funny....the laptop in the picture looks like the "anonymous" laptop with the german guy a few posts ago.
No, it's fatter, doesn't have the red lines, mouse pad buttons are on the side, not under the touch pad, and, as a bonus it has VGA out :D
If it's a touchscreen windows 7 netbook then they have themselves a customer.
It's so cute!
