Here it is, folks -- what's likely to be the
largest laptop of 2009 in terms of sheer screen real estate. We actually managed to cart one of these off of the freight truck and into an airplane hangar
for testing, but this outlet isn't about our opinions. In fact, we're wondering how you (dearest readers) would change this monstrosity if given the keys to the Lenovo kingdom. Is the lofty MSRP justified? Is the secondary panel really that awesome? Has this increased your productivity? Have you pushed any lamps off of desks and been forced to pay for replacements? No need to be gentle here, how would
you change the
ThinkPad W700ds? And... go!
It kinda reminds my of a car sun visor the has that little plastic thing that pulls out.
Embed a pico projector.
1. The touchpad and Wacom digitizer would go away.
2. The second display would be a high grade touchscreen and placed below the keyboard (where the touchpad usually goes) rather than on the side of the primary display.
Thus the digitizer/touchpad/second screen would be combined in a way that is intuitive. The 2nd display/touchscreen could mirror the primary, serve as a drawing tablet, or for multimedia it could show the controls when watching a movie fullscreen...
Make the screens OLED for size and put the tablet and trackpad together into one giant winpad.
Screens that pull out of both sides.
Auxiliary screens must have the same brightness and pixel pitch as the main screen.
I would.....OH CRAP, WATCH OUT! THERE'S JASON!
I'm a track-point convert too, I used the track pad first, but the track point ends up being much faster once you get used to is, and it's also located inside the keyboard so you can switch from typing to moving and back very quickly without moving the hand that much. Also, I like highly designed objects, but I'm kinda partial to IBM/Lenovo's thinkpad aesthetic--it's all business, no frills, which for something like a workstation laptop makes sense. If I was buying a computer to surf at starbucks I'd buy a macbook, but I'm using it to graphical heavy lifting, and I prefer the rugged and stripped down feel of the workstation lappies...
Put an anti-gravity unit in it so I don't have to carry it around in a wheelbarrow.
Put an extra screen on the extra screen so that you can select which icon you want to select, and then select it on the extra screen.
I would get rid of the creepy guy in the reflection, because I am afraid he might kill me...
Also, more cowbell...
Cupholders!
Seriously: Worst.....Design....EVER!
I agree with everyone with adding another screen on the right. However, I'd rather have it turn into one big tabletpc. Also, make the screen detachable so it can be used as a slate.
Don't make it look like it came from the 90s. Also fix those overheating problems.
ANNNNND... engadget just got a lot less relevant. thanks idiot commenters.
lose the lcd coming out of lcd and make a flexview touch screen come out of the ultrabay, that way you can put a flexview screen and also get rid of the wacom
Isn´t that obvious?! A third screen!!!!
SO we would have one small screen on each side, that would be true awesomeness!!!!
Imagine for work you put all your tools on the sides keeping tthe central for monitoring or as your main work view.....
and for games....... imagine it only.... true awesomnessss
Add a second trackpoint on the right side.
