Dell Adamo to arrive tomorrow: $1,999
Not a ton of details to work with here, but Dell's confirmed to the hometown Austin American Statesman that the 13-inch Adamo we saw at CES will indeed launch tomorrow and be priced at $1,999. As expected, the machine will be just the first in an entire line of high-end Adamo-branded machines, but we don't know if Dell has anything else in store right away -- hopefully we'll find out more soon, as the 13-inch version is due out in 24 countries including the states on March 26th. Ballsy move launching a premium line in the shadow of Apple's iPhone 3.0 event, but you know we'll bring you all the details as soon as we have 'em.
Update: Well, that was fast -- the Adamo is apparently already floating around SXSW in Austin. No specs yet, but that's a picture of the box up there. Yeah, it's hot. Check out a bunch more pics by Brian Solis here.

I don't see how this relates to the iPhone 3.0 event at all. The events won't affect each other.
And by Wednesday every blog, newspaper and newscast will be talking about the iPhone and its new OS, and no one will even know what the hell an Adamo is much less care.
While we're at it... can we compare the 13" unibody Macbook with this machine, please?
Does this thing best it in any other category besides slimness? What are the comparative thicknesses and weights?
$2K is a LOT of money to ask someone to spend on a computer, these days.
I think it's beautiful... Just put Win7 on it and it's good to go. It's really not bad at all.
I'm playing with Windows 7 right now and I like it. OSX is nice, but I'm starting to prefer Win7.
Too bad I can't afford this nor an Apple computer...
Like I said before I've been using Mac OS for about 6 years now and I'm really happy with it, but if you want a cheap computer just get a netbook with windows 7. Microsoft has really done an amazing job with it, if Apple doesn't do anything I might go back to windows :(
Yeah, that's what I plan on doing. I'm still a high school student... without a part-time job, haha. I need to find one, but it's kinda hard in my area considering how everything is with the economy, and I'll wait out on newer netbooks.
THINNER THAN AIR
PRICIER THAN AIR

And what's with the crooked trackpad buttons?
However, I'd have to say it's better looking than the MacBook Air, though I don't like the font they used on the keyboard. It is lovely, though.
It's actually thicker and heavier.
They probably should have waited until Windows 7 launched. New hardware + new software = good sales!
$2000?! Dell went nuts.. they gotta be kidding me..
i rather get a mac book pro, then a $2k netbook.
i would only get it if is below $800
Damn ... I was really looking forward to this computer, and figured the specs would be outa this world, but thought the price would be around $1200, not $2000. Who pays $2000 for a computer anymore?
For what is is, it's actually pretty darn good. It is thinner and lighter than any consumer laptop I've seen. If anything it is the first consumer laptop (sorry Apple), that would even have a chance of pulling me away from a real business laptop like the E4200 which costs more than this or the X200s which actually costs less.
9600!?!? In these??
You'll be lucky if there is a 9400 and not an Intel Integrated GPU.
Grrr! Stupid Engadget Commenting system!
Expect some layoffs from Dell after this thing is released.
That price better include some decent specs like a Geforce 9400 chipset and an Intel SSD...
For $2000 I better see specs that go along with that price. I say at least a Geforce 9600 and high end Core 2's.
Let's try again:

Breaking? The only thing breaking about this is my wallet.
I love the guy who said the tech world doesn't revolve around the Apple product announcements.
Um.
Actually they kinda do.
Since Apple is often copied/followed in whatever they do (OS X, iTunes store, iPod, AppleTV, iPhone, App Store, etc) then yea, the tech world will singularly OBSESS about what they do because they want to know whats NEW.
The Dell Adamo will get drown out in a swarm of Apple Event Wrap up articles.
Nevermind the fact that is a derivative overpriced WINDOWS machine. Bleh.
No one will ruin Apple's Copy and Paste Revolution, Dell. No one.
(sarcasm...no flame war plz)
Assuming this has a good Core 2 Duo chip and dedicated or switchable graphics it could be a sick computer. Sony Z and Macbook Air styling? I'm not a fan of Dell, but if the specs are up to muster I may pick it up.
is that the shipping box? or is that a display? what are the specs on it?
proly DELL is sayin:
hey if Apble can do it why can't us??!!
me to dell: cuz ur dell
dell fanbois aren't so sheep like
Dell was known as the value leader, not the high engineering, high design and high price leader. I think Michael Dell is trying to dabble in territory that it does not belong, and it will be punished for this in the marketplace.
Reminds me a bit of a Vox amp...
Looks and performs like crap. What idiot would buy this? Same idiots that buy apple's air craptop i guess.
The name reminds me of this robot I used to have named AWESOME-O. He knew all the best movie ideas.
