ViewSonic prepping 22-inch laptop for China?
ViewSonic is mostly known for the display game, but the company got into netbooks this January, and now it looks like it's going after the complete opposite end of the spectrum with a 22-inch laptop for China (and hopefully elsewhere). At least that's the word from not-always-reliable "industry sources" in Taiwan, who also claim ViewSonic is looking to sell small laptops bundled with monitors to further pad sales. We'll have to wait and see if either tidbit pans out, but we're always up for an extra gargantutop on the market to laugh at and secretly desire.

"but in January the company got into netbooks this January, "
January is not only a month, but also a country... DUH! ;)
Fake picture....is a monitor on a HP Elitebook base....:O))
Yeah, a 2730p - representing HP's most overpriced tablet...
That's exactly what I thought as soon as I saw it. However, it's more like a 2710p because it lacks the touchpad.
I own one of those monitors... maybe I'll just glue it to a laptop also!
no shit, sherlock.
Keep digging, Watson!
LAPtop? At 22 inches, I don't think so.
does this thing even fold?
Yes it does, it Folding@Home, even the shittiest computers can fold
the PS work freaks me out
Will it come with a coupon for a free chiropractor visit?
Dude!! it's A desktop Replacement...
if you wanna carry laptop around.. you should consider something like Dell Adamo... so stop sinning against something people always wanted a desktop replacement.
Really, who has a lap that big?
they definitely got the wrong market for a 22" notebook. they probably might have sold a lot more in the states... however it looks kind of strange for a notebook and it doesn't look like the screen is even foldable.
As I am constantly, and sadly, reminded in the locker room at the gym, some 'laps' are just bigger than others.
Nobody does, 'cause they don't make them yet. But I still want.
My 17 inch hurts my back walking to school, I think you should get a complimentary Big Dog just to lug this beast around.
"my 17-inch hurts my back"
Damn Enzyte!
They'll have to get Yao Ming to do the commercials and make the machine look like a netbook.
Maybe on a bodybuilder's lap.
View Sonic making a 22-inch laptop? Hmmm. Why stop there? Why not make a 46- or 52-inch laptop? It'd be great for watching the Super Bowl!
Maybe a smarter suggestion would be to add a ultra high resolution, ultra portable projector option That way, you can literally project any size screen you want. Maybe the technology doesn't exist now, but that would be kind of cool.
I'm up for a laptop lcd display with extendable height for proper ergonomics. Someone, make a flexible thing that flexes in and out and I will buy it. That image actually has the screen at a far better height for proper ergonomics.
It would be quite amusing to see someone try to balance that on their lap.
"So someone's making a world's slimmest laptop? Well... we're making the world's ******************* BIGGEST LAPTOP..."
I'd buy it if it were a 120hz display with a high-end card and processor, supporting 3D vision.... but I'm guessing it won't have ANY of this.
Interesting picture, a viewsonic monitor with an HP Tablet body.
ah, i didn't catch that. i was wondering how big that keyboard could be
i'd go for a 26 incher mobile computer..... with built-in rollers....
y'know like those travel bags...
that would make an awesome LAN rig.
Andy Bowerfield: No that would be terrible; you would have a computer the size of a suitcase with the power of a budget gaming machine from last year at current market prices.
How hilarious would it be if this was just translated wrong and they meant to say 22 cm? Meaning it's actually only about 8.66 inches...
That'd be more reasonable considering their netbook game. Plus...yeah, whose lap is 22 inches? I have a 17 inch and it already barely fits in any bag...
It would work if it was ULTRA WIDE.
Anyone remember the Dell m2010? "The Showstopper"? (C'mon, the computer Pepper stole those files from at the office in Iron Man) It was only a 20in. "laptop".
That was portable too...Whatever happened to it? Oh yea, it killed all of its buyers under the weight of it's fat ass so they quit making it.
This is gonna be great.
what? viewsonic? theyre still famous?
How many of you seriously use your laptops on your laps? Most of the time I'm using my laptop on a table or at a desk. So I'm not worried whether it will fit on my lap or not, just that its portable enough for me to take with me. And for those of you who are crying about carrying around 15 lb laptops, how the hell did you make it through school when the english book and math book weigh 30 lbs combined? Do you ever go camping? Or do any manual labor at all you soft, fat, fatty, fat fats?
I think you answered your own question there...
Hah, you made me remember one of my friends from High School. He carried every single book he had in a rather large gym bag. His locker was empty because he carried everything with him.
Contrary to popular belief, this behemoth does not fold at all, nor is it designed to. They are cornering the market on the necessity of L-shaped cases to tote the "lap"top around in, making it look as though you are toting around a camera from the 1800's.
that picture looks like the biggest turd. is it real?
I actually have that monitor.
