iriver P35 interface caught on video, where it titillates and amuses

Kids of all ages holding tight for an exhaustive look at the new iriver P35 GUI need wait no longer. Caught on video, the interface recalls that of the P7, and seems quite responsive. Widgets are accessed through a scrolling task bar, and -- we're sorry to tell you this -- that Big Bang Theory show seems to be just as unfunny on the 4.3-inch WQVGA touchscreen as it is on our family TV set. That said, we're really looking forward to putting one of these bad boys through its paces. It's still unavailable in the US and Europe, but for lucky folks in Korea they're available in one of three versions: 8GB (DMB digital TV), 16GB (DMB digital TV), or 16GB (both DMB and WiFi). Prices start at $286. But that ain't all -- be sure to check out the video for yourself after the break. Music by our Weather Report cover band, Mr. Gone.

I like how they sped up the video so the interface looks responsive.
I'm not accusing or anything, but his movements seems a bit too fast
But his hand is moving just as fast when the Big Bang video is playing and that's not sped up...I'm assuming it's the refresh of whatever camera he's using.
Only Apple edit their iphone ads in that way. They got sued for it in Europe.
Big Bang Theory show seems to be just as unfunny
I know exactly what you mean (bad mouthing the good name of all Sheldons everywhere, grr)
Is it the same video here as on the review page (their site was too slow)? If it's the same then it's a promotional video, not a review. The video has been sped up and edited - heavily.
Are you trying to be sarcastic, or 'ironic'? The roller concept and hardware are fine, but the GUI is Frankenstein's monster. It seems inconsistent throughout, like a bunch of apps pulled randomly from various OSes and thrown together. A few look a little Vista-ish, and others even might have come from Windows 3.1. Despite the language barrier, I should still be able to get a sense of flow to the GUI. some logic structure, but I don't see it. The graphics need a redo in general. Graphically simple can be great - I get it, but it needs more thought and careful design than it appears to have had here. Titillated and amused I am not.
I felt the same way... the UI seems inconsisgtent, fragments of ideas pieced together and each application* seems to have a distinctly different UI, all too incongruent. By the time you learn all the controls, the device will be obsolete. It seems a horrendous mess. Come on, for God's sake, holy crap, and other such exclamations... it does like 6 things... make the effort to create a UI that is functional in "all" of those areas. Sheesh. Right now, it feels like they had 6 teams work on the software, and the UI disunity is the evidence of that.
* app has been too sullied henceforth and forthwith for me to feel comfortable using it
By the way, as a creative designer genius type, all this consume content only crap is getting tiresome... aren't there some affordable gadgets that actually let you create the content? Draw a cartoon, write a brief skit or joke, publish to a site, edit a short video remotely, make a music video, etc? Anyone? I said affordable, but I also meant portable, like this device.
And did nobody mention the terrible color scheme?
So is this like the n810?? I really wanna know It seems like it though, doesn't it? i don't wanna replace mine yet :(( lol
Now that you mention it, I've been waiting all this time for something to come out that beats the n810 and the only thing close is the viliv s5. Except it costs close to $700....
Is it really that hard to produce a sub $400 pmp/internet browser/gps device that isn't a cellphone?
Typical of iRiver, it runs Flash games/animations/programs, probably flash lite 3.0 (see menu at 6:09). I don't specifically recall any Flash programs being shown off, though. Guess it's just another media format to most folks other than Flash developers. Anyway, I wonder if the interface (that's being harped on in the comments) was done in Flash. Seems pretty snappy from a response standpoint. I'd watch it again to to try to make a guess...but the music makes me tap my fingers and I might distract anyone nearby. Anyone else have dancing finger tips?
Stylus = fail.
As a peripheral they're fine. But to drive a mobile UI, it's pure fail.
thanks IRiver for saving me $300-$400.. this thing still cant beat my Archos 605... still looking for a better device because I am NOT fond of the archos 605
doh!!
Maybe that Cowon O2 ? hmm..
Isn't it a bit funny that the videos on the device where torrented? How else would they have been able to have them?
