Gigabyte's Booktop M1022 (and dock) hits the FCC
Lookie here -- Gigabyte's Booktop M1022, which we spotted looking peculiar at CeBIT earlier this month, has just splashed down in the FCC's database. The 10.1-inch machine will apparently arrive with a LED-backlit panel, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1.3 megapixel camera, optional integrated WWAN, VGA output, an Ethernet port, ExpressCard slot, 4-in-1 multicard reader, 1GB of RAM and a bundled docking station that sits it upright rather than flat. Obviously there's no mention of a US price or release date, but it can't be long now.

I Coined it weeks ago!

nettop?
I really like the whole putting the netbook side ways docking station. I wish it was capable with my eeepc 1000h, Im constantly on the move and it would be incredibly convinient.
I'm not sure how much I like the idea. Seems to me, the sides are going to get fairly scuffed after a while by repeatedly inserting it into the dock.
@Shawn
That's what she said!
I don't get it. Is the only advantage the conservation of desk space? It seems to me that any dock that prohibits you from using the "booktop" while it's docked is... a pretty bad dock, really.
Whats the point of that.
It would make more sense if it was a tablet style thing that had a reverseable screen so you could dock it vertically and use it as a monitor.
that's exactly what i thought it was at first. sucks for us.
Durr... it's a docking station for a notebook (eerrrr netbook). You know, you keep a keyboard, mouse, video, and ethernet connected, and come home, flop your netbook into the dock, and you have a fullsized OS again.
I think it's a great idea...
I'm confused...is this just a netbook with a stupid dock or a tablet?
This idea is incredible, i would say all the other companies should sell a docking station too for about 50 bucks, a lot of people would buy it
Seriously, wait 5 more weeks, my company is doing just that.
Pair up a BT keypad, mouse, and away you go. A whole new way to use a puter. Like a Book but Not.
Reminds me of the Sharp Actius MM10, with how you can dock it.
Looks like they're ready to put a car inside just not to use Nvidia Ion platform...
Ah, yes, who watches those blu-ray rips on a netbook, other than me that is...
It'd be neat to see something like this for a tablet (where you can close it with the screen out, unless I missed something and the screen is on the outside while in the dock) and give it the ability to both dock and be used as an external screen for another machine.
Yeah....I dunno...
My friend had a Sharp that could do something similar; when you dock it it becomes an external HD.
