WiMAX | |

It's amusing to see all these weird comments. If Apple wins anything it's because of every single reason on earth EXCEPT merit. Even in the face of popular vote some people still try to discredit the winner if the winner is Apple. The iHate is unbelievable.
And to those who still insist the Zune is a good product, wake up. It's as good as dead. Some tech blogs do say it has better sound than the iPods and that may very well be true. Unfortunately that's the only positive thing about it.
And once and for all. The iPhone is a smart phone. Wether you throw fits of rage on the floor, shake your iHater fist in the air or not. And it's beat all the other smart phones out there. Engadget users are not the only ones who think so. JD Power found out exactly the same thing:
"iPhone manufacturer Apple ranks highest in overall customer satisfaction among business wireless smartphone users"
http://www.jdpower.com/corporate/news/releases/pressrelease.aspx?id=2008240
Apple knows how to compete, RIM knows how to compete, Nokia knows how to compete, Google knows how to compete; they make incredibly good phones. These four, along with Plam will SINK WinMo because MS does not know how to compete.
PMP of the year should goes to COWON D2 for superior sound quality compared to the inferior Apple goods.
this one?

Nikon D90 as the Digital Camera of the year??????
you gotta be kidding me!! haha
You guys really are trying to make this into a joke..
I think the reason for people choosing Apple products in display and storage device categories is that they don't really know about other produtcs in those categories. I guess they think "Well, lots of display models here... And there is Apple, I saw pictures of that one. I'll choose it." Apple's naming strategy may have an effect here. I mean, Cinema Display is Cinema Display for years, and it makes you think that you know the product for years.
Also the same thing about not knowing the products applies for wireless technology category. It seems weird for me how readers chose in-flight WiFi over WiMAX. I believe they chose it because WiFi sounds a lot more familiar than WiMAX.
I nominated that childrens auto toilet :( The one that scares the sh!t out of the kids after they've already taken a sh!t, by playing an excessively loud nursery rhyme and bashing them in the head with a roll of toilet paper.
TWO comments........ first, cell phones........ I don't particularly care what make/model.. my current one is a Nokia..... and all it does is make phone calls..... no photos, no movies.. the important thing there is that WHATEVER cell I purchase or use..... it comes from T-Mobile...... the ONLY company I've found that doesn't handcuff you into a two year "contract" with monster penalties if you leave early. Second, computers....... I suffered for five years with a DELL....... nothing but problems nearly every day........ and if you called Dell for "technical support"........ they wouldn't even talk to you unless you supplied your credit card number first................ over $300.00 for a five minute conversation. Now I have a Compaq/HP........... NO trouble, NO problem, and friendly, FREE, technical support. Be careful what you buy or who you buy it from.
Yet another Mac fanboy competition.
Can you all please stop defending your overpriced toys...
There are many many other gadgets that are not from Apple that deserve to win in most categories.
I guess a competition can only be as good as the readership though.
I've gota give it to apple... technology and products aside... theyre marketing is second to none. They've got lots of people following them blindy like some sort of boy band or religion. apple bigger than the beatles? bigger than jesus?
the Samsung Instinct sucks
Noo, I really dont think that the Dell Mini 9 should have got netbook of the year.
I dont dispute, it is a good netbook, but I think it has been completely overshadowed and more often than not overlooked down to the supremacy now cause by manufacturers such as Asus, Acer and possibly MSI as they all seem a hell of a lot more active in that are.
To be perfectly honest, in the UK, it is overpriced for what it offers.
These results are not surprising. Heavily biased but not surprising.
Example: the Apple Time Capsule?!?!? That choice is obvious knee jerk fanboism.
For the same price you could get a very nice raid 1 array with swappable drives to perform backups.
And including a router with a backup drive is like putting a VCR in a TV.
So many apples. Makes me sick :)

Wow. And I really thought at least the editors of this site would have the ability to make rational decisions on best/worst lists. Guess I was wrong. I totally expected the apple fanboy readers choice picks... but the editors? Do you guys just throw darts at post-it notes to pick these lists?
Darn, I missed the engadget awards post, I just finally read through it. I guess I'll miss all the Apple versus MS debates :(
Gimme a break though - time capsule!? As a computer nerd who uses Apple, PCs, Linux, crazy brand mp3 players, ipods, -- basically as a real gadget nerd, people always have asked me about what they are going to buy. It used to be a certain type of person would go for Macs, and I would tell them to go for it (heck, they are made for that kind of person). But, Apple has gotten out of hand! People are really brain washed. Apple is VERY bad for the computer and gadget world right now (more because of the Apple fanboys than because of Apple itself). Engadget has become quite pathetic as well (as far as being a gadget nerd place to go, now it's become a true media outlet, run by money). I wasn't depressed about the economy, but I am now getting depressed about the future of gadgets :(
