MSI launches AMD-powered GX733 gaming laptop
Not down with MSI's GT725? Just an AMD purist? Either way, you'll be thrilled to feast your retinas on the company's latest gaming behemoth, the GT733. This 17-inch beast gets powered by a AMD Turion X2 Ultra dual-core mobile CPU, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a WUXGA display, ATI's Mobility Radeon HD 4670 (512MB GDDR3), up to 500GB of SATA hard drive space, an optional Blu-ray optical drive, 2.0 megapixel webcam, and a 4-in-1 multicard reader. There's also gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, three USB 2.0 sockets, HDMI / VGA outputs and your choice of a six- or nine-cell battery. Per usual, MSI's keeping quiet on the pricing / availability front, but we reckon it'll be filtering out here soon.

"AMD powered" and "Gaming Laptop" in the same sentence?
yeah really ... blast from the past ... the GPU is nice and you get plenty of hdd space but then they put measly 2gb of RAM and a CPU that is anything but gaming grade. Oh well it's MSI after all ...
Gah, no knowledge about resolution and pricing. I hope the screen is Full HD, at 1920-1080 or 1920-1200 even; and that the pricing is around 650-800 euro, maximum. Sounds like a nice laptop to consider!
Is there really any point to full HD on a 17 inch screen?
yes there is. You can decide to connect it to an external display!
"WUXGA display"
WUXGA=1920x1200

hum not sure what I was reading but pls disregard the previous comment.
For movie watching ti would make no sense to have any HD option on a 17" screen but as far as resolution goes higher is usually better and 1920x1200 is really nice for a 17" screen if the brightness and color accuracy is there as well. Take a look at the 17" MBP ( OS and feelings aside ).
Oh and fyi fullHD is not applicable to computer screens. WUXGA is the correct term.
If I even see the phrase 'Gamin Latop' I don't look for a reasonable price, this end of the market is still awaiting the seismic shock that the netbook had on the laptop market... maybe the ION GFX GPU will make a difference, time will tell...
I guess this'll have vista on it? With 2gb of ram and gaming? I don't think so.
I was thinking the same thing. That has to be a mistake, as all the other specs are top notch
Absolutely agree with the RAM comments. With the prices where they are, it's a no-brainer to go with a minimum of 4gb. The CPU really won't affect gameplay at all, it's been proven over and over again that the GPU is the workhorse in all gaming situations. My problem is that MSI like to launch products and then drag their feet making them available. Let's see it on the street, MSI!!!!!!!
