I don't think I've ever not cared about a piece of technology more than this.
It looks great, but honestly, this just seems like they're printing more money with the DS platform, there isn't anything really must have. There are only two things I like about, this bigger screens, and support for the more secure wireless protocols (which actually doesn't work for games though apparently >.>).
Nah, I'm not going to pick this up. Probably get a PSP instead, if I were in the market for another portable gaming device. The DSi not being able to play GBA games is a huge minus, seeing as there are a lot of awesome games on the GBA that I still haven't played yet (Castlevania FTW). Plus, my DS is still kickin', so there's no need to get another version of it.
Too bad they didn't keep the GBA support. I guess they really just want to deprecate that whole range, but it's unfortunate, as there are a crapload of great titles still available for it (used, of course).
iuve been out all day and I asked different EB games whether or not they sold alot, they said they sold alot, but still had plenty more. The DSi this round of new Nintendo products didnt get alot of advertisements or boasting. I never once saw a commercial for this like we did on the lite or the original, only things were up was signs at the malls. Maybe it will sell like hot cakes in a few weeks but Im goin to take a shot and say it wont. Im waitin for that DS2 and if history means anything in the past we should very soon find out about the successor to this really great generation.
i got it and i have to say its not as thin as they said it was compared to the old one. and the material of the dsi feels bad like really cheap sandpaper mixed with rubber, but thats just me. what i like though is the position of the power button and the lighting
i got one, traded in my DS lite for $70! DSi is awesome the cameras are cool, i love the visualizers in the music app, the screens are super nice, i just wish they were better rez, the shop is really cool, and will only get better, i just wish it played video.
Got mine last night at midnight and I love it. Solid system, really like the blue and it feels just as good as the lite. Nintendo Store huge plus, I know right now it's nothing but a few mini games but I can really see it taking off, maybe offering us some classic NES and SNES games (crossing my fingers for Link To The Past!!!!). Also SD slot very nice (unlike memory stick slot, shame on you sony for being a bunch of jerks when it comes to your memory stick), lets see some mods.
Only Nintendo could convince to purchase the same game system twice.
I hate Nintendo...
I feel sorry for the people who fall for this.
I got mine today, It's prety cool.
iphone/ipod touch wannabe. love my wii, iphone, ipod touch, macs, but don't like the DSi.
I only regret that I have but one negative to give to your comment.
I got mine today, unfortunately my R4DS is no compatible, i had to order the new "Ultra" version that supports the DSi, fortunately it was only $25 shipped.
$170 is way too expensive. I could buy a blu-ray player for that.
Does it even have any internal storage and does it play mp3s? I need to check more into this.
Other than a camera, what's the different between this and the regular DS? The download store?
It plays .aac files, not mp3, because they thought that that would lead to a lot of piracy. It would, but I still think it's a dumb move.
I kinda want to get one, since the firmware will no doubt be hacked in a week or two and hopefully we'll see some interesting homebrew come out of it.
pick one up now and go back to having four games??? ohh.. right, plus some zany photo and sound manipulation stuff!!??!
nah.. i'll wait til R4i comes out ;)
I want one in white. I wonder how long I'll be waiting. Don't want to import one.
I might buy one when/if special addition zelda version comes out.
I play and love my PSP far more than my DS phat but for some reason I really really want one of these...
If you ever owned a Game.com Pocket Pro that had a black finish with a backlight button on it. The black colored DSi feels just like that on touch.
I'm disappointed in the DSi's music capabilities. I can deal with it not being able to read mp3s, it just required that I converted my music files from mp3 to the supported mp4 format.
But what I don't get is why it can only see up to 237 files.
Has anyone else noticed this?
I picked this up yesterday. Awsome device. The DSi store is definately lacking though, but they give you 1,000 points free to use when they get some good DLC.
Get the iPhone. It's a gaming console, an iPod, and a phone. It also has Wifi, perfect to keep in touch with your friends.
I got mine but haven't turned it on yet. I am addicted to technology.
Will pick one up the same day Dragon's Lair comes out for it... So most likely, never /sigh
Traded in my old DS at GS for the new one. It was worth it. Much better then the previous DS!!
I bought it lastnight on total impulse. I'm not a huge gamer, and stuff like this doesn't keep my attention for long, so I was totally prepared to regret the purchase and throw it in the corner. But.... I LOVE IT! I too had the "who needs MORE cameras" mentality. I was so pleasently surprised how engaging this thing is. Before you knock it, pick one up and play with a friend. The pictures are Histarical! WarioWare Snapped alone is extremely innovative, getting your body into the game, its like you're playing a little mini-Wii. It even uses pictures it unknowingly takes of you during gameplay to make fun of you, HILARIOUS! I realize its one game and an isolated example, but im sure theres a lot more like this to come and much more fun to be had. I can't wait to see more and more "apps" added to the DSi shop. If you're on the fence don't listen to the "cameras are lame, its all the same" croud, BUY IT!

A iphone is not good for everyone.First it very easy to rake up a very high bill in data alone. In canada for exzample you aslo have to sign a 3 year contract. At eh very leaset over three years contract alone will be about $1600.
