Latest PSP2 rumor covers familar ground, adds pre-Xmas release date

Not that we needed much more evidence that 2009 would be the year 'o PSP rumors, but Pocket Gamer is now reporting that it has heard from an "insider source" who says that the PSP2 will indeed be released before Christmas of this year. That source, who's supposedly a "developer working on the new hardware," also backs up some of the earlier rumors about the design of the device itself, saying that it will be more like the iPhone than the current PSP, and that it will boast a sliding touchscreen that conceals the buttons and dual analog controls when it's closed. Not much more than that, unfortunately, but who know's what next week's rumor will bring? We're personally hoping for a surprise Atari Lynx rebirth to really shake things up.
Give me everything listed above, AND a webcam for Skype, and an SD card slot, and I'll buy 3

I still love my Atari Lynx. Mature games for adults. The PSP2 would be nice, but since I got my PSP last year I'm hoping this rumor isn't true. I still didn't get my money's worth with the PSP.
So, beside the new "look", any other details? Is the device still using UMB? Is it more powerfull or we are still looking at PS2-like graphics?
I'm tired of these PSP2 rumors. I'd rather wait until we have something official.

Make the machine in the picture, with a multi-touch screen and OLED panel, and I'd happily pay the required - hopefully reasonable - price. I know that's not an official render and it's been seen many times, but it IS a nice design.

So exciting! But I think all the best Homebrew will still be on the PSP1. The PSP2 will probably be locked up tighter then Hillary Clinton's *****.
i think somebody has seen this markup of what someone thinks the PSP2 will look like and just made it into another rumor. cuz everythign he said is everything in the above picture we always see
Love that fake photoshop rendition every time I see it... If it really ends up looking like that, I might just have to buy one out of sheer respect for the design.
Sounds like a hoax, I really will not believe this until I see it.
play Home and look at your PSP, its not a rumor anymore
It is just the PSP go mistaken to be a new PSP2. THink about it, he stretched the truth about touch screen, but sliding screen to hide controls definitly seemed like a hit.
