Sony shows that 'C' stands for Crocodile with skinned VAIO Type C
Shattering misconceptions that crocodiles only come in various shades of dark, menacing green, Sony has managed to genetically engineer crocs in girly pink, luscious red, and chocolaty brown colors exclusively for the sake of wrapping its CS series VAIO notebooks in organic texture. Mind you, textures are all those crocs sacrificed, as like the company's earlier Crocodile-themed machines these lappys are still made entirely of plastic and bits of silicon -- just grooved and pigmented to look like prehistoric, genetically modified reptiles (check out the detail pic after the break). The crocette devices, which are otherwise identical internally to those sporting myriad of other hues, hit Japan on the 18th for ¥104,800 (just over $1,000), and while Sony hasn't announced any plans for an international release, we're thinking if you head on down to Florida you could find yourself a good 'ol boy who could whip up one of these in no time and make a rib-stickin' stew with the remains.

This is not going to pass the Custon
I meant Custom
haha i want it!
Silly Sony, everybody knows C stands for Cookie!
It seems you made the same mistake made by most city folk. There are no crocodiles in Florida, only alligators.
But yes, they are very tasty creatures.
Not entirely true...

Do you mean testy creatures?
This crocodile will bite your wallet :))
this is cruel and disgusting.
Read the article please :)
Personally I think a leather effect would look nicer.
Didnt you hear? Crocodiles love being skinned and turned into laptop covers and pencil cases.
Honestly though, you do know this isnt real leather.
Is there really a market for this kind of thing? Do people actually buy things like these?
Ur yes, its called the high end of the market. That is the market Sony caters for, where people dont mind paying extra for looks.
I find it funny people rag of Apple for being overpriced when Sony are just as bad.
I would buy one of those if it came in black.
Vaio's are FAR more competitivly priced than Apple. On average a vaio will cost £100 pounds too much for it's spec, whereas a macbook will be nearer £400.
Just did a quick check comparing Sony's offering to Apples Macbook. Both have laptops that come in at $2099. The Sony only slightly edges out with things such as an sd card reader, slightly more resolution and bigger hard drive, while the Macbook has an entirely metal design, DDR3 ram and OSX.
VERY comparable yet because Sony arent in the "limelight" they dont get ragged on about their prices like Apple do. I just find it funny that people dont think their are segments in the markets and all all facets of life you DO pay more for brands and looks. From cars to clothes to electronics, not that they perform any better. People pay more for Italian shoes yet they wear out in less time than sandshoes from Big W (Australias version of walmart)
"People pay more for Italian shoes yet they wear out in less time than sandshoes from Big W (Australias version of walmart)"
But "real" shoes (such as the Italian ones) are much better for your feet (if they're not made out of plastic, that is, like those @ Walmart etc.)
I'd consider a black croc casing, these colors are for girls.
Then again I prefer Dell and HP myself.
Though with Sony, you get what you pay for. Good solid build, blu-ray drive and 128gb SSD and a dual core processor and all of it cheaper than a Mac with a lower specification.
Not really no, i just checked. The Sony edges out specs wise but both cost $2099 and no the comparable Sony doesnt come with a blu ray drive or ssd. The Sony is certainly not leaps and bounds better, and loses in some cases such as ram.
Hahaha. dude I can't believe you went out of your way to go check. Everyone knows that Windows based PC's are always cheaper than Mac's. They may not be much cheaper but cheaper none the less. Also dude calm down, it wasn't as though I called your mother a whore.
Lol i checked because i find it interesting. Im just pointing out that Macs are not the only machines that might be overpriced. Sonys are too.
Thanks for not calling my mother a whore, means alot. I too would never call your mother a whore :-P
Now this is why I read the comments on Engadget.
So enlightning!
I mean, where else can you find such whitty sarcasm.
You have guys wasting time looking up specs just to prove their posts to other people that are wasting time.
And no, I'm not wasting time, If this was sarcasm, then maybe.
Whew, just escaped that one!!
Compared to the posts of sites like Failblog, yes, these comments are enlightening.
You need an IQ of -42 to post comments on Fail blog.
It might also surprise you to know this kind of things interests people, you may consider it wasting time, others do not. I consider playing world of warcraft a waste of time yet millions would disagree with me.
WORD!
Poor Crocs :(
FUGLY.
Y'know what would be really unexpected? Green Crocodile!
I looooove colourful gadgets and laptops, but this is a little too permanent.
I use these hard shell cases for my Mac goods:
