Acer's Aspire Timeline gets its own splash page and press shots, like a real laptop
While Acer had slides aplenty to tout its new Aspire Timeline series of laptops last night, we were a bit short on actual press shots. All is forgiven however, with Acer's new smooth jazz fusion-infused promo site for the laptop. Not only can you read riveting PR copy on the thing ("Time is your most precious possession, and as with all precious things, you can never have enough") and check out some press shots, but the soundtrack will take you back to the last time you were watching PBS in between programs -- Charlie Rose is on at 11PM, just in case you were wondering.

Not anymore. :)
In before chiclet keyboard origin confusions.
It isn't a chicklet keyboard, its like the VAIO keyboards before chicklet the keys are rounded at the corners and very flat.
I wonder if you could manage to report something without a sarcastic headline. I'm guessing but I think you'd probably be one of the first in the queue to complain when I say 'Engadget bloggers post stories, just like real journalists' ?
Just occasionally, could you just report the facts without the snide remarks.
Ta.
I hate it when those young punks cut across my lawn.
Wow. One mouse-button to boot.
I'm no Mac Fan, but this may be the most blatant repacking outside MSI headquarters.
You can flame for making the comparison, but there's no denying the roots behind that color-scheme and hardware design.
It just proves that one mouse button is better. But only if implemented well, like on Macs.
Not only that, this laptop has the word "time" in the name. Yep, just like the word "time" is used in the name of Time Machine, and the word "time" is used in the name Time Capsule. That is a blatant rip-off of those Apple products, and just another "me too" copy of something innovated by Dear Leader himself. Do these people have any class? When will stop? Can't they do anything but follow in every footstep of the leading Apple?
Its has two mouse buttons it just depends which side you push.
Yes, I believe Apple has the patent on the very concept of time.
I like the side remarks, it adds some flavor to the otherwise pretty bland tech specs. I enjoy reading engadget's articles. It adds some personality to things. Why do people complain so much? lol

The design looks really nice to me, I hate to see no nvidia ion though. :\
Ion is for Atoms.
This has C2D but it would be nicer with an Nvidia 9400.
It's not only for Atoms, at least, it won't be for long. NVIDIA said they wanted to open it up to VIA at the very least. I think they have already on a small scale.
IB4TL
intel integrated graphics = big fail
it doesn't have integrated graphics only, it has a switchable discrete option most probably the 9400M
I wish it had matte screen as 7th photo shows. But alas... This is the only thing, holding me back. When the glassy screens maddness will be over already?
Where are the stickers?
I think the Macbook Air was the greatest engineering feat in ultraportables. Acer is late to the party, and can't get it as thin, sturdy, and sexy as the unibody Macbook Air. Plus, this Acer runs Windows, which is a shame.
Sure it's not as nice as the MBA, but they are less than half the price! That's the killer feature, really. A 13" laptop weighing 1.5kg with 8 hours battery for $699... that's just amazing. I can imagine the Acer board meeting on this...
"Let's design a MacBook Air competitor"
"Let's see what are we good at... design? Nope. New innovative manufacturing techniques? Nope. Radical innovation? Nah. Price? Yessss.. that's it."
Whopps I replied to a troll. Oh well.
when can we see it in stores?
looks cool
