Packard Bell's new DOT S and DOT M netbooks for Europe
Acer-owned Packard Bell is taking Acer's latest and greatest netbooks and rebadging them for the European market. The 10.1-inch DOT S swipes most of its specs from the Acer Aspire One D250, while the DOT M (pictured) goes for the 11.6-inch Aspire One's guts. There do seem to be a few aesthetic differences, however, with a fancy textured palm rest, silver touches to the trackpads and a tweaked lid. The DOT S will be available this week for 299 Euros, while the DOT M hits at the end of this month for 399 Euros.

Packard bell is still alive?!
thats exactly what i thought !! haha
acer bought them...
No doubt! I thought Acer took PB to the stall out back and put it down years ago.
Packard Bell were owned by NEC before Acer and have been for sale in Europe for years.
Only in europe I believe. I wish they were still around in the USA. My first computer was a Packard Bell 486 DX2 with a 4MB of ram. I actually think they were much better than most other name brand computers available back then.
looks quite nice, but what is that on the touchpad?? its like the touch pad partially goes onto the button :|
Reflection of the top left corner of the screen, me thinks.
If I saw this back in 1998 when I got my old beige colored Packard Bell, I never would have believed they made this!
Though to be fair, its really Acer that made this with a PB branding slapped on it. : )
So are these the real deal, or just refurbished Acer Aspire Ones, repackaged to be new Packard Bells? I kid, I kid.
I think this looks quite a bit nicer than the normal Aspire One, though. It doesn't have that gap between the screen and base.
It has a nice looking keyboard too and the price appears to be right: if it will really cost only 299, it's cheaper than a MSI wind U100...
Strange thing is it looks much nicer and higher quality than the Acer original.
Dear Acer, I own the trademark to Shitpile Computers and am happy to sell it to you. It is widely regarded to be a more trusted name in computers than Packard Bell.
ok. stop DOTS.
