GiiNii's Movit Mini Android tablet coming in October, Movit Maxx in January
We were pretty stoked by GiiNii's Movit Mini when we got some hands-on time with it at CES this year, and while the 4.3-inch, Android-powered tablet was originally due out in the middle of this year, the company's now targeting an October 1st ship date for the Mini and January 1st, 2010 for the 7-inch Max. Specs look to be the same as before, although given the new date we'd say Cupcake is now all but guaranteed. Mum's still the official word on pricing, but last we heard the Mini was expected to cost "less than the iPod touch" -- here's hoping the company manages to keep that goal.

SWEET!

Nice. Now these people are getting it close to right. It'll just take Apple to get it perfect, but I'm sure they'll charge $600 for perfection.

If priced over $229 will fail hard here in America ,.

Only bad things about the ipod touch and the iphone is the screen is too small and theres no adobe flash support, Hopefully these will have it.

I'll bet there's dozens of people wanting something like this.
Fail.

I like to root for underdog , but I don't see this bring a succes.

No thanks...
I'll wait for the Tegra Android... or the Tegroid Android (the rumored one that doesn't have Tegra but has a dedicated graphics and video chip and a silk smooth 3D interface)

I've been following this product for some time now, glad to finally hear some new (if disappointing) news on it. This is _great_ for datacenter work!

If they can hit the $149 price they originally targeted, they should sell a ton of them.
With Skype & all the other Android applications, it would be perfect for companies to give to employees, for constant access to email, messaging/phone calls between employees, access to company web sites & documents, etc. Since everything is done over WiFi, there is no cost to the company, above the basic purchase price.

Sounds awesome too me. Like an Archos Tablet but with android! I love android since i got my g1. I have been tinkering with it, its amazing how awesome open source is... and how easy the SDK makes it to make new app, and how easy you can edit already made apps.

I've owned 2 Nokia Internet Tablets, just like this, and neither were that useful. For starters, their web browser didn't like most of the sites I visited, and they were painfully slow compared to even an old laptop. They also wasted alot of juice when turned off, so they'd never be charged when I needed them. And the small screens didn't help. I put up with a small screen on my cellphone, but at home, I have better options. And unless you have WiFi access everywhere you go, you'll be using these mostly at home or work, where you have real computers.
I thought they'd be a great way to look up websites well watching TV, instead I always had to return to a real computer. I have great doubts that these tablets will fair any better. Tiny tablets are a nitch market, like PDA's. They don't have much use for most people outside of cellphones. You need widespread wireless access to make them really useful, and right now, that's the cellphone network.

when you can pick up a full-fledged netbook, i.e. asus eee 900a, for about $180 on eBay, these things look like a pretty hard sell.

if this was more powerful than my nokia 810 net tablet i'd pick one up in a heart beat.
My nokia net tablet struggles with alot of sites.
