Lenovo's 14-inch IdeaPad Y450 now shipping
Lenovo's 14-inch IdeaPad Y450 is now on sale from the company's online store -- about a month later than originally intended, but better late than never, right? Prices start at $679 for a 2.16GHz Intel Dual Core T3400 and go all the way up to $829 for a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6400, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, and 320GB HDD. All models feature an Intel GMA 4500MHD, DVD writer, Windows Vista Home Premium, and a 6-cell battery. If the 16-inch Y650 was just a little too pricey or bulky for your tastes, this should do the trick -- at least until the 15.6-inch Y550 pops in to fill that void in between.

Why do they charge more for a slower processor? Is this a typo?
It actually looks kinda nice for a $700 laptop.
BTW, first. Just couldn't resist.
Core 2 Duo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dual Core
The T6400 has a higher FSB and double the cache size.
Actually, the difference between the two processors involved in here aren't that great in the real life. The core 2 duo and dual core is more of a brand thing, T3400 being based on Merom-2M(64nm) while T6400 is based on Penryn-2M(45nm). The main difference is in cache memory and size.
When are they going to bring these to the UK?
Was this an experiment to try to see how boring could Engadget possibly get?
Interesting, the ideapad logo on the palmrest glows. Purty.
I'll never get a Lenovo until they start incorporating or at least offering as option, some better video card options. And that processor... is that ancient tech or what? T3400 is ridiculous.
Not even on the list anymore.

I love how there is a $999 option with:
NVIDIA GeForce G 105M 256MB
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P7450 ( 2.13GHz 1066MHz 3MB )
That looks like a better graphics card, and that does look like a better proccessor option....
(BTW - to engadget - this last option may have popped up after your article. Please fix it)
Yuck.
I'll be sticking with my 13inch aluminum macbook thanks.
Apple FTW.
992,711,900!
Good for you, this is relevant to the post how again?
Looks pretty good for a Lenovo.
Considering the cost involved, I find really weird that Bluetooth is only available for the higher end 999$ model?
Weren't these suppose to include the new Nvidia GT 130M?
If you look up the .pdfs they released at launch, it mentions the GT 130M WTF is this? 105M? Pffft
Thank you for ruining my day Lenovo, I'll pass
Exactly! I've been anxiously waiting for these to come out with GT 130, what a disappointment!
Been waiting for WEEKS for these and this is what they produce?? It almost makes the 2.0ghz MacBook look like a bargain. I feel gyped and I haven't put any money down. It's as if Lenovo just ignores it's customers...all the bleepin time.
Looks pretty decent. I have a Y410, the same product two iterations ago, and have to say that for what you pay for the Lenovo IdeaPads they are an excellent value. My Y410 has been running for 16 months without a single problem.
As other have mentioned, do bother with the entry level processor, upgrade that at least one CPU line.
