Zen-filled Aspire One netbook makes VAIO P look cheap
Oh, right -- we forgot that Sony's not actually considering the VAIO P a "netbook," but for all intents and purposes, it is. That being said, this highly decorated Aspire One easily blows the pants off of the aforesaid Sony, ringing up at $3,000 (minimum) on eBay. Why so pricey, you ask? No, there's no liquid nitrogen-cooled Core 2 Quad within, nor will you find a CrossFireX graphics setup. What you will see, however, is hours upon hours of TLC poured into this one-of-a-kind machine by Japan's own UFO-Hayashi. Still, for three large this better come bundled with peace, love and happiness for as long as the owner draws breath -- something we're definitely not seeing in the video after the break.

Phhh I will care when it's made by Apple. Geez.
This just in: Nobody gives a fuck.
Maybe MK forgot the /s ?
But really, this thing is nice art.
Wonder who'll buy it.
MeowR
I'd buy it if the art itself was 10% of the netbook price and I wanted that netbook. In this case, however, neither of conditions is true.
Ya it was sarcasm. GEEZ.
I want to know who will buy it.
Well I really appreciate things like this so If I had the spare cash I would consider it. If my car and student loans were paid off I'd really think about it. The only thing that would make me jumpy is eBay. I tend not to make purchases over $100 from there.
Amazing artwork really.
Unfortunately, my nonexistent budget is going towards a $500 pc build.....
So 3K is out of the question for me.
so its a $2500 premium for the art work, shouldn't matter on what, so I think it makes more sense on a something like an Adamo because people buying it already have fat wallets, where as very few prospective asspire one owners would be interested in this
Like that swarovski covered vacuum cleaner from way back when.
Anyone know the name of the song playing in the background? Or at least the genre?
LOL I was just getting ready to respond. It's Agatsuma. Just purchased a CD off iTunes a few months back.
No it's not Agatsuma. The song is called "Storm" by Yoshida Brothers on their self titled album "Yoshida"
Why start with an Aspire One for something so special? This is now the world's most expensive cheap netbook. I would've used a NC10 or at least a 1000HE...
Nonetheless, I'm digging the design.
Did they forget that one of the biggest pro's of netbooks was the cost? why would they make a netbook for $3000?
I think it is because it is more of a piece of artwork than a netbook. But if it makes you feel better I'm sure some company will just start printing something like this on the cover of their netbooks and make em cheap for you.
I almost read Miyagi in the beginning
gosh i am racist
3k for a refurbished and 120gb version of the Aspire One? Come on now......
Who in they're right mind would pay $3,000 for a refurbished Acer? Now he should try doing this on a Macbook Air or Dell Adamo, and use only new Laptop's or Netbook's. To ask $3,000 for a Netbook aimed at budget minded people is crazy.
This looks very nice.
Zen-filled VAIO P is there too: http://trendy.nikkeibp.co.jp/article/special/20080512/1010797/?ST=as_npcism&P=4
The mouse only has to use this.

Can we stop with all the sony bashing? geez.
Great artwork, but wasted by putting it on a computer. Combining artwork that has nothing to do with computers with a netbook makes no sense and doesn't add any artistic or functional value to either object.
No bids, starting bid is $3,000. 4800 views.

Beautiful painting. Smart on a laptop? Ehhhhh. Still beautiful. Worth $3000, not really.
sucks to think this hardware will be obsolete in a bout a year or two and your gonna want the new dual core atom and all the new jazz that comes in the second gen.
Why put art on a device that's going to be scratched, scrapped, and smudged countless times. Unless whoever buys this plans to hang this on their wall the art will eventually get ruined over time.
What many of you fail to relies is that this takes the ordinary and converts it to extraordinary. The piece looses its base value and has it increased by the artist who did it and the work that was put into it. The piece is no long a laptop but art, sculpture and painting united.
