Archos 2 gets official in US, new color leaks out

Oh sure, you could already get your paws around the Archos 2 flash-based PMP if you really, really wanted to, but we're still thrilled to see the company come clean and begin offering it up on its own website. As of now, prospective buyers in the United States of America can "soon" select the 8GB version in black or white for $59.99, while the 16GB model arrives in the same color options for $40 more. In related news, ArchosLounge has shots of a new blue model, though there's obviously no way to procure that bad boy just yet. Damn, $60 for an 8GB player from a (somewhat) major brand with what looks like really nice quality build, not bad, not bad.

Depends on how much you like iTunes.
After my experience with the Archos 7, I will never trust Archos again. Absolutely nothing worked with that device as advertised.
I haven't had a single problem with mine.
I had one of the first Archos MP3 players- was around the time ipods still used firewire. That thing was built like a brick and lasted for 4 years. never broke- just got replaced.

I am giving Archos one more shot. I am coming off owning the Archos 5 and before that the 605 and both were real buggy. Add the fact that Archos' themselves cease updating old models via firmware as soon as a new model is out and it's easy to see why some are disgruntled towards them.
If this was an iPod, there would be over 150 comments. But this is an Archos product, and there are 7 comments....

OMG, if you use the phrase "Gets official" in one more headline I'm going to go postal.
My gf's Ipod just kacked and we returned it. Showed her a Archos 605 80 gb for the exact same price. FShop @ 150$ (can) on sale. She is a very very happy camper. Epic better.
