Sheila the Laptop Hunter picks a PC, keeps it civil

We're not sure if Microsoft is winding down its Laptop Hunter campaign, or just decided to step off the class warfare a bit, but this latest ad is pretty hate free. Shelia, a filmmaker with a $2,000 budget, asks the hard questions like "is this graphics card going to be powerful?" and walks out with an HP HDX 16t (an upgraded version of Giampaulo's kit of choice). The MacBook Pro's mere 2GB of RAM at that pricepoint just didn't fly, though we have to wonder which self-professed video editor hasn't already picked a side in the age-old Avid vs. Final Cut Pro debate -- which could've helped cut down on the soul searching. I'm commenting from Mac right now, but I can definitely agree with the RAM thing, DDR3 or-not the original 2GB it comes with is pathetic, sure OS X is blazing fast on 2GB, but where are all of the applications going to go.

I have quite a lot of things open on mine. I have 2GB of ram and its using 484.75MB that's including Photoshop and lots of tabs. Plus iMovie is much better than windows movie maker.

To be honest with that laptop she could still probably only run windows movie make maybe adobe premiere very slowly really doubt final cut pro.

So for her use its really Windows Movie Maker vs iMovie

I know what i would choose

The other ads are more legitimate but movie editing thats what macs do

Plus 2GB on the 15-inch: 2.4GHz would be plently!

For those who doesn't test an apple before, u dont even know or think what its the power of a mac with 2gb memore card.

Check the last mac ads and borrow a mac for a couple days to see how its feel.

Yeah, good luck running Final Cut on that HP. Looks like you're stuck with Avid. I've been using a mac for two years now, you know how many crashes I've had? I'll give you a hint. It's zero.

Macs dont need as much ram as windows based computers because the Mac OSX is less of a memory hog.

Windows = massive failure
