Panasonic slashes price of 103-inch plasma
Finding itself in the odd position of selling a suddenly low-end 103-inch 1080p plasma, Panasonic has responded by cutting the price of the professional model TH-103PF10UK by $20,000 to a mere $50,000. Despite waiting over two years to move to a much more reasonable, mass market price the company has racked up over 6,000 installs of the model, with displays starring at the Democratic National Convention, as virtual air hockey tables, on NBC's Sunday Night Football and Beijing Olympics studio, TNT's NBA Playoffs set and more. This seems like a good time to mention the display is also capable of being matrixed in a 5 x 5 video wall -- and at these prices, we can't see why anyone wouldn't. Of course, they could just be clearing stock to bring out the 150-inch behemoth or a more home oriented TH-103PZ800 model Stateside, so weigh your options carefully.

omg.
engadget giveaway competition please?
$20,000? Why not just get a high end projector especially considering the fact that this is a Plasma TV and you can't take it to high altitudes.
For $2-3,000 dollars you can get a high end projector a screen and a deck out whatever living space you want with full surround sound and have the full movie theater experience.. WTF's the point of this TV?
Actually I just re-read $50,000?!? This is the exact reason why when you get to TV's around 70" or more you might as well buy a projector....
Because projectors look horrid in normal ambient light. The only people buy these must be using them for commercial applications. Otherwise yeah, for home theatre $50,000 is much better spent elsewhere.
I have a question to Engadget... You report on all the coolest gadgets right? Why not give us a tour of your office and some of the gadgets you use daily? It would be a nice break from the norm...
I can answer this for you.

I wonder if Amazon offers free delivery - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0015YTMFY/itquotes101-20
I thought it was a post-it on the TV.
In the pipe 5 by 5....
5x5 Matrix = 515" diagonal? That's almost 43' of HD goodness 0_o....hold on I need to find a towel..
Finally, I can afford one!
Only one? I pity you, poor beggar.
When they have quad resolution like their 150" model has in a 100" or so model I'd go up to $20K but $50K is too rich for me swing on my income.
With 20k slashed off the price it's finally time for me to get off my ass and buy one!
So you can sit on your ass and watch one?
Any dichotomy between body and soul is a philosophical mistake, and by promoting it you just give a helping hand to this never ending post-modernistic era which has us all in shackles of non-absolutes, so all that is left to say is
FAIL
Is everyone daft?
"cutting the price of the professional model TH-103PF10UK by $20,000 to a mere $50,000"
50,000 > 20,000
Yes, I am sure it is a typo. But how do so many comments get posted without anyone knowing this.
Engadget fail. Reader fail.
The original price was $70,000. it was cut by $20,000. It is now $50,000. which is $20,000 less than $50,000.
We installed 6 of these at a news channel studio in hong kong. Heavy mothers. Picture was quite good though.
how much did it weigh?
They weigh 250kg, more than your average tv!! They are most certainly for commercial use, projectors are no good if you need clear crystal fine images, especially with HD!!
