What's this we have here? A trusted source just hit us with a slew of beauty shots of the Storm 2 that leaked a little bit ago. Not much else to say at this point until we can get one in our hands -- the photos really speak for themselves. But seriously, what are you still doing here? Get over to the gallery and see all the tasty (and frankly, familiar) shots!
People who say first who actually are aren't to bad. It's people who post first when they're 47 that are bad. Or worse, people who post first as a reply. And not the first reply either.
I feel bad for the vz users who get stuck with this piece, especially with the iPhone 3 and Pre coming out next month. BB should stick with its ugly huge plastic buy 1 get 1 free phones for the people who are to poor for the really hip phones instead of embarrassing themselves again with this wannabe iPhone clone, that way we can always have a constant supply of haters posting here who look at their crapberry in disgust knowing they envy the iPhone/Pre users. honestly its pretty sad what they resort to, but hey we all can't have the best.
I hope they do. With the update, the click screen has become brilliant on my current storm and the add dimension to the UI makes things like selecting text very very easy.
I agree that a touchscreen does not automatically make for an iPhone clone, but the first Blackberry Storm was obviously an iPhone clone. RIM saw how popular the iPhone was getting and decided they needed a touchscreen device ASAP. The Storm was rushed and incomplete because of that iPhone-driven urgency. The hardware is clunky and the software isn't much different from RIM's OS for non-touchscreen phones. They put as little thought into the product as possible in an effort to get it out the door. That's an iPhone clone. Maybe they took more time and appropriately developed the Storm 2, but the Storm 1 sucked.
That screen seems larger and higher res. Like a "Storm HD." But screen shots can be deceptive. On the Storm 1, there is a small strip of black plastic that surrounds the touch screen. At the bottom, it takes up about 0.25 inch, then runs into the buttons. When the screen is off it gives it the illusion of having a wider aspect ratio than the 480x320 that it actually has.
Comparing these shots to my Storm, the screen seems to actually have a slightly wider aspect and to cover more real estate on the phone. But its hard to tell.
How the hell could you tell that? That is an Infinti.
But I gotta say, there's nothing that Blackberry can really do to impress me with this phone simply because they don't have anything new to offer but text input methods? I mean they only have business/emailing stuff down pat and they really should stick to it because I just don't see what they could offer on the software side other than iTunes clones and Facebook apps that everyone has now.
I love the click screen, It is what sold me on the Storm over the iphone. I like the fact that it requires a positive press to activate rather then a traditional touch screen, after all buttons are far better for typing than a touch sensitive screen so for me the clickable storm screen is better than the iphones but not quite as good as the traditional blackberry key pads.
The browser isn't as good as Safari, but it's faster (which makes sense), but your point was that you couldn't get Opera on it....you can if you so choose.
I agree with everything Monkey and coolblue stated. Touch screen is great, typing is wicked and I've written multi-page blog posts in no time with my Storm. The only real drawbacks are Verizon's inability to put out an update after .75 (I went ahead an updated to the unofficial releases) and the lack of wifi. Both of those will be remedied in this verison.
I was hating on the Storms click feature too...until I finally own one. Seriously, I thought the click was going to suck, but after my second Touch Pro broke, I decided to try out the Storm. The "click" feature is very nice, I actually feel like I'm typing because of the feedback...unlike on the Touch Pro. And the browser? Hasn't bothered me.
If there's something BB needs to fix, it's the OS. It crashes/reboots too often and sometimes my voice fades out (maybe the radio?). All in all, I like the Storm a lot.
I didn't study the cosmetic features of the original blackberry but all there seems to be is an additional array of touch activated buttons along the bottom of the screen.

This is such a big event: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_(Greg_N.)
OH SNAP, you just earned yourself an entire wikipedia article. Congratulations.
So, what do you have to say, and whats the address to send the check there, Greg?
Hey TitTup300, you were just as annoying as Greg

rofl
seriously. why waste intelligence/sentences on these virgin-for-life trolls. if ignorance isn't your thing it takes one word:
perish.

lol.
@Tiptup300
OMFG I just LOLED so hard at reading that .....
Hope they got rid of the "push" click screen

just because its a touchscreen doesnt make an 'iphone clone'
if you buy an iphone to be hip ... what a joke
care to have any valid arguments? can you post a message like that on your iphone without resorting to wifi?
I hope they do. With the update, the click screen has become brilliant on my current storm and the add dimension to the UI makes things like selecting text very very easy.

The only difference I see is the buttons on the bottom are now part of the touch screen.
Other than that it looks exactly like the first BB storm.

The buttons still look like their part of the shell to me.
FWIW, the pics weren't taken in a Mercedes or a Nissan. Far from it.
I knew it looked familiar. It is an Infiniti FX.
You can find the same seat heater switch and automatic/manumatic shifter in this set of pictures.

The screen looks awesomely sharp!
Shame no headphone jack, but looks like they refined the unit nicely, wonder what the insides are like.
....umm...I see a headphone jack...we looking at the same pix?
My bad you're right, I missed it on that last image as the 1st one of the right side is too dark for me to see it there.
Is a new, stronger vibrator motor one of the improvements?
Cos it sure looks like his fly isn't zipped and that thing is being pressed against his crotch...
lmao I see that too now
You scare me sir.
you even look at the pics? Its not his "fly", it's his jacket. sheesh..
These pics are the bomb.
That sharp high-res screen is the bomb.
i dont know where you guys get your ninja's... but thats some A1 certified, balls to the wall amazingness they pulled off with this.
No, these pics are the Storm 2
Chris, these are seriously win photos. I was amazed. I am still amazed you got 'em.
Nice.
The BlackBerry Bomb?
I wouldn't quite call them exclusive...
http://crackberry.com/exclusive-first-look-blackberry-storm-2
LOL. Still no 3.5mm headphone jack ?
Um,... the storm currently in my hand has a headphone jack on it.
Thats the phone in YOUR hand.
Apparently, HIS phone isnt even a Blackberry, but nobody told him that yet.
...You bought a BlueBerry, didn't you?
If it still has the click screen it will be fail.
If it still has the lousy browser it will be fail as well.
If it has opera and a screen like the iPhone it may be a win.
Basically it has to be the Storm on steroids, plus some.
Being on steroids would imply it was the same, only better/stronger/larger..etc.
So, same browser...but better, etc.
"If it still has the click screen it will be fail."
Plenty people love the click. I prefer typing on my Storm to my Touch.
"If it still has the lousy browser it will be fail as well."
The Storm browser is faster than the iPhones. Go on youtube.
"If it has opera and a screen like the iPhone it may be a win."
You can download Opera for Blackberries. And the Storm's screen is higher resolution than the iPhone's.

Wow, you've got some issues if you actually a) like the Storm's browser b) like the click screen. Both suck, let's face it.
The browser isn't as good as Safari, but it's faster (which makes sense), but your point was that you couldn't get Opera on it....you can if you so choose.

HOLY HELL IN A HAND BASKET
Did the first one have a sim slot too? Does this mean it will not be eclusive to verizon?
The sim card is for roaming overseas. The storm is one of two blackberries at verizon that you can take worldwide.
