Is this the Alienware 'Allpowerful' laptop?

Menacing huh? The slightly enhanced image above was uploaded to the NotebookReview forums by a jockey claiming to be from Alienware marketing in Costa Rica. The tease upon tease shows what could be the Allpowerful laptop already counting down for product launch in 15 days. Further image manipulation reveals the typical offset-left trackpad found in Alienware's current gaming rig lineup. One thing's for certain, with a name like "Allpowerful," we'd better be looking at a 17-inch screen (minimum) and heavy-hitting Core i7 or we're setting phasers to kill. Pew pew. It will also have a fuel cell, and by fuel cell I mean 75kW Honda or Onan generator instead of those pesky batteries. The real issue with this device is whether it will be dual or single axel...

You gotta be careful with thoss sager notebooks that have desktop processors in them. I bought one with the last generation of p4's was a 3.8ghz p4D with 4 gb of ram, 17" monitor ets, the old 9890.

Its still running in my father in laws shop, but it has a permanent print of my hand on the plastic wrist wrest.

according to the review on this sager notebook..with intel core i7...the battery ran for 1- 1/2 hr tops..

Few people know that most Alienware notebooks are built under ( Clevo Chasis )...so they are basically almost the same under the hood except Alienware uses a different material for the casing..such as alloy...

i like the new design for alienware, but on price-performance-config ratio..Sager still performs well..and better priced..

Yikes! With that full size keyboard (QWERTY, arrows, numpad & side functions if the keyboard "enhancing" is to be believed) and the slim screen bezel, I think it's looking like a 19"-20" LCD -- way too big to be 17".

I just can't understand how there's a market for these very expensive, monstrous gaming laptops? I did all my FPS gaming exclusively on PC's up until 2 years ago. I resisted the switch to consoles until the Xbox360 came into existence. After buying one, I haven't played a single game on PC since. After so many years of upgrading and fussing with graphic card drivers it just didn't make sense any more. For a few hundred bucks I can get my fix with no hassles, no driver headaches, and with alot of money left over to spend on other toys. Spend $4000 just to play Call of Duty and Crysis?!?! No thanks... CoD4 and CoD:WaW may not look as detailed and pretty on the 360 when compared to the PC version playing on one of these mega laptops, but I still get my fix just fine.

$4000 is a gross exaggeration. If you've ever actually built your own, you know you can get nearly the best components for much less. Assuming you avoid the absolute newest-to-market products and don't buy the new best thing every time it is released (and you avoid the pitfall that is Intel's "Extreme" line) you don't have to spend that much more on a gaming PC than you would a normal one.

For example, I put together a rig that ran Crysis on max at 25FPS for about $1500.

Granted that's still a lot more than an Xbox 360, but since I get all the value of a PC plus gaming, you can subtract the value of a desktop PC from it...so it's about $400 more than a normal, upscale PC? That's a lot closer to a 360's price point. And you can play FPS games the way god intended, with a mouse and keyboard. That alone is worth a lot.

And when you do decide it's time to upgrade, sell your video card on ebay and buy a new one, cheaper than buying a new console. But the beauty is that you don't have to do that. If you get good components from the start, you can use it for about 4-5 years with no upgrades.

I'm no pc snob, I have a ps3, I just like playing on the PC better.

I play 2 things: Source games (Team Fortress 2 et al) and EVE Online - neither of which require a super-fast PC, but they do require a PC (since TF2 and all other Valve releases are seriously gimped on the 360 through lack of updates, even if you can get past the lack of a mouse and keyboard). I could get a PC decent enough to play these 2 with all settings on high probably for $1000, less if I went used.

Laptops allow those of us who have to fly a lot the ability to keep our gaming going wherever. Fact is, you can't really bring a desktop on an airplane - even if you cram a Small Form-Factor rig into your carry-on suitcase, you can't cram in a monitor alongside it. As a college student who flies roundtrip for summer, winter, and spring breaks, I need something I can carry on a plane with me. Is it one of these? Probably not, due to cost. But it will be a laptop with a dedicated graphics card.

Unless LAN parties are your life, it's pointless dropping a lot of cash for something that you'll probably play at home, and will struggle to play everything on max. Get a highest end desktop, and rig it with 3D vision.

SFF computers are for LAN parties. These are for people who have to travel often, since a desktop won't fit (period) and you will have extreme difficulty bringing a SFF on an airplane without resorting to checked baggage (where it will likely be stolen).

Yeah sorry but I gotta call fake, I downloaded the background and tried it myself. The pixel levels are zero for all the areas that appear black in the original image. There is no detail that can come out of the black areas, no matter what filter you have, if every pixel is just set to zero. I think someone's idea of further image manipulation is "copy & paste".
