ATC3K action cam beautifully retrofitted into ski goggles
Remember Oregon Scientific's ATC3K digital action camera? Yeah, it's back and better than ever. Over at Biobug, one rather talented modder has decided to integrate said device into his UVEX ski goggles, and the result is nothing short of breathtaking. All that was required was a soldering iron, some cabling, a Dremel cutting tool, an ATC3K camera, AA battery box and a small plastic case. Oh, and time -- lots and lots of spare time. Hit the read link for a pictorial trip down assembly lane, and feel free to create your own for this winter's best-ever YouTube vids.

sweeeet, how much?
MegaBite @ May 19th 2009 6:17PM
Wow, I actually own one of these cameras and have it mounted as a helmet cam. Didn't know you could fit it into goggles.
Jay Voorhees @ May 19th 2009 1:19PM
I'm just going to assume that he used UVEX because in case he screwed up he didn't want to ruin a decent pair of goggles.
CubeGuy @ May 19th 2009 2:38PM
Because when it comes to $140.00 cameras, your primary concern should be whether or not you ruin a pair of goggles.

If you're going to mod a $140 camera you might as well do it with some class. Get some Oakleys or some Anons.

@ CubeGuy
Ya i think you should care about your goggles. Good goggles can be more than 140 dollars... I guess you probably wouldn't get it unless you ski or board :P

WANT, if you look at my picture, I could so use one of these next year.
Idlemind @ May 19th 2009 1:38PM
I wonder how long it takes to get used to something in your secondary field of vision.

Just in time for the ski goggle surf club season...

"honey, why are you wearing those in bed?"
idiot @ May 19th 2009 5:56PM
so what happens when you smash your face? camera/forehead integration?
sebastien @ May 19th 2009 6:03PM
I just don't get it ... why doesn't he attach the original camera to the helmet ? it's
wayyyyyyy simpler and safer and cheaper and .... smarter !
Benson @ May 19th 2009 8:17PM
And... less cool?
MegaBite @ May 19th 2009 6:20PM
Well, mountain bikers/dirt bikers could use a helmet cam, but not everyone who skis uses a helmet.
SOOPERGOOMAN @ May 19th 2009 6:23PM
Wow that little cam looks just like my psp go cam. just fitted into the goggles. $140 for that, come on. The cam itself is only about $50 USD. get and extension cable on eBay for $15 and a used psp and you're set. Peep this vid of my setup on my Hat being used to film my first flight of a model plane.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbt-OX86dak action cam style.
