Nokia's N86 8MP cruises through the FCC's database
When Nokia unveiled its N86 back in February, we Yanks were given no hope whatsoever that a US release was in the cards. We're doing our best to stifle our excitement, but it sure looks like a stateside launch is a lot closer now that said handset has made its way through the dark and murky halls of the FCC. Seen here in a lovely, washed-out shade of black, the 8 megapixel, OLED-equipped dual-slider seems no different than the one we toyed with in Barcelona, save for the whole US-friendly aspect, of course. C'mon Nokia, come clean with the price and ship date, won'tcha?

Nokia seem to be going for dark grey colours on their "black" handsets lately. My N79 is like that, for example. It's an interesting effect.
Does give quite an early 90's look to them though.
I guess Bondi Blue's due a comback then.
N97? Ummm, that isn't available yet.
Sorry, I read N97, instead of N79. My bad.
Believe me, I wish it was an N97 too. I could sell it and get an iPhone.
n97 or n86 :s ahhhh hate decisions!! :(
N97 for me, I can always do without a higher quality cam...
Let me guess, an LED-based 'flash'?
Fail.
Fail indeed. I thought I didn't care about a phone having Xenon flash, and was going to buy the N86, but after using the C905 for a few days (which has plenty of downsides too) I realised how good Xenon is in a phone.
Why such a camera centric phone hasn't had Xenon included I don't know.
If Nokia come up with a Xenon edition I'll go out and buy one right away, but I won't until they do.
awww man didn't even get first post on my tip. lol
Am I the only one reading the top row on the lower picture as "poop" ?
Hahahaha
Or 'Qooq'.
You get it? Huh? Huh? quocke!
they butoons are (zoom-in, ngage button 1, ngage button 2, zoom-out) = POOP lol
Didn't the KIRF version looked better ?
the funny thing is i got the same thought as u r
That numberpad looks well disgustingly retro!
It does, reminds me of mobira 5000, even colours are the same. Last phone designed by engineers.
Best damn keyboard of all the phones i've used, and sturdy as hell. Could hammer small nails with it.
I cant wait for this phone. It's a mighty upgrade from my 5300 xpressmusic (if it comes stateside *fingers crossed*)
What? It has an OLED screen just like the N85? How the hell does Nokia think they're going to get away with ripping off the upcoming iPhone's OLED? Nokia - all copy cats... ;)
Whoever is head designer at Nokia should really get fired.
The phones are great and all, but boy are they ugly.
Back when the N95 came out, we would've given limbs for a phone as Nokia that was only as ugly as this.
whoever designed that keypad should get back into his DeLorean and return to 1985 where he belongs
I saw one of these on Walmart's phone display board a few days ago, you sure they're not released yet? I think it was on Rogers Mobile.

Are you sure it's not a KIRF?
the white one still looks better.
I see Nokia remembered to use their cookie cutter again...
I have one of these, n97 coming this week. cool toys. testing mobile tv with it. (using SU-33w)
