Transforming Qosmio laptop is actually less than meets the eye

Still looking for something else to go with that transforming mouse and USB drive? Then you may want to try to get your hands on this seemingly official Qosmio laptop, which transforms into everyone's favorite cassette-playing Autobot, Blaster. Unfortunately, this particular Blaster can't actually play cassettes, and the laptop isn't actually a laptop either. It is, however, a fully functional four-port USB hub, which makes... sense? Not surprisingly, such wonders are a bit hard to come by 'round here, but folks in Japan (or those willing to go the importing route) will apparently be able to pick one up for ¥3,980, or about $40.

I'm surprised this is from Japan. It seems like something that should be coming out of China. Is this actually from Toshiba? When did they get the rights to Blaster?
Transformers are from Japan. Makes sense to me.
@Smart People Play Tuba
I think he means it seems like a knock off.
I think it's from the Takara Tomy toy company, who owns the license to product Transformer toys, and could get permission from Toshiba to replicate one of their laptops.
It is from Takara which started transformers I guess.

I think this one looks much better.
Transformers are from Cybertron.
that is such an awesome headline!
+1 donald!
Amazingly, that Qosmio transformer is actually thinner than the real thing.
why the same site got multiple posts about their simliarly overpriced produt?
Would have been cooler if this was Soundwave as he would go perfectly with the USB thumb drive Ravage.
Soundwave > Blaster
I guess they expect it to go with the usb version of tigatron, which still doesn't make sense since tigatron was never a cassette tape transformer and only appeared in Beast Wars.

I have seen a Qosmio transformer before. It's a massive brick that puts out 180W of juice for that behemoth of a gaming laptop.
The Soundwave MP3 player is cooler, as it's fully functional as an MP3 player. It even accept miniSD cards.
So instead of doing one story about the Transformers Device Label product line--which was announced WEEKS ago, in full--you've decided to dole out each individual product as a news item on a slow news day so you can pad your post quota.
Nice work.
OK it was cool when the Transformer USB Flashdrive was "Announced". And in the comments someone posted a link to the site that is selling it... And on that site has been EVERY OTHER TRANSFORMER COMPTUER DEVICE.
Did Engadget decide to do a global announcement for ALL the devices at once? No, they are milking it and every few days they "Announce" a new Transformer computer device.
Just announce the whole collection of devices already!
What is really funny about this is that Engadget got the article from coolest-gadgets who got the article from techfresh who got the article from gizmodo who got the article from craziestgadgets who finally got it from the original japanese version amiami
Its fun to see how news hops arround like this and track down the original side from where the device first made its appearence. Maybe its just me who has no life hehe
.. so, what's the odds on one of those folders being labelled "MyPr0n"?
Yah know. The sexual connotations of Ravage ( http://www.amiami.com/images/product/main/092/TOY-RBT-0768.jpg ) "interfacing" with Blaster.....all kinds of wrong.
Clean up your friggen desktop!!
Win.
Ravage USB drive + this hub = epic win.
WOW!
i want this
Good thing they didn't choose to model it after the OQO Model 2+
