ASUS' potent G51 gaming laptop headed for Computex
ASUS already struck a chord with portable gamers when it introduced the imposing W90, and now it's looking to do the same with LAN party goers who need something just a wee bit less gargantuan. Details are light on the forthcoming G51, but we do know that it'll arrive in a few form factors (15.6- and 16-inch models) and will give buyers the choice between a Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Duo processor. There's also room for up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM as well as a 1GB GeForce GTX 260M graphics card; furthermore, you'll find an optional Blu-ray drive, 2 megapixel camera, dual 500GB hard drives and a white glossy shell. Mum's the word on pricing, but we expect to hear more on this July-bound beauty at Computex next month.[Via PCWorld]

Now that's a gaming laptop, unlike the other one shown off a few minutes ago.
Indeed , Quad Core and GTX260M 1GB DDR3 and 2 hard drives in 15 Inch laptop plus the ability to overclock the CPU by 20% is very impressive

# Futuristic Robot New Chassis Design
* The concept behind the Futuristic robot new chassis is inspiration in part of gamers’ abstract universe, directly inspired by science fiction movies (I-robot, Matrix, etc.). The design mixes pure white high glossy shells with grey sharp mechanical details to conjure a sci-fi feel and tone to the entire notebook.
Lame.
I want one with GTX 280M..still i go only for 17" to 18" displays...
woah. 3d LED panel
If it's within the $1600 range I'll take one! This should play Diablo III if/when it arrives, right? That's really all I want a new lappy for haha.
I love my ASUS G1S laptop - a very well built, high quality machine. That said, the sheer awesomeness of this one may force me to upgrade.
***OFF TOPIC COMMENT***
Just curious, the "before the break" of yesterday's Daily Roundup didn't spotlight what was clearly the most viewed, dugg, and commented on article of the day... more Apple bias??
No DDR3? That's odd.
that's what i was thinking. other than that it looks pretty sweet.
I have the ASUS G50VT with 4 GB of DDR3 and love it.
Great notebook. A little on the heavy side, but I can live with that.
I heard that this new one was coming out between $1300 and $1600 USD.
Dude, I'm on mine, though I don't recall the 4gb being ddr3... Regardless, I had many issues when I first got it, installed Windows 7 RC, and all the problems went away (aside from drivers that I'm missing, big whoop though). Crysis on high at a coffee shop for under a thousand bucks.
It is big and you could toast bread next to the vent, but it beats my defunct P4 desktop.
no dd3, no buy
Why is that? Have you read any performance reviews of DDR2 vs. DDR3 RAM? It's not worth it at all.
DDR3 RAM can be up to 30% faster than DDR2 RAM
Nice!
"G51 also takes good care of users’ games and videos storage needs to offer dual SATA hard disk drive up to 1 TB which equals to almost 212 pieces of DVD. G51 uncompromising quality provides gamers with supreme gaming-centric digital entertainment experience."
pieces of DVDs? love me engrish
Cool.
Cool!
So i found the G51 in best buy the other day. it had just come in. I was almost gonna buy it, and it has most of what the posted specs say...except for the processor, which was only a core 2 duo 2.0 ghz. Anybody even know where to get this thing yet with the higher specs? i havent found for sale anywhere else yet except best buy. its still a good deal there for $999.99.
here is the link as well. match specs and you'll see what i mean.
