Computex: Pioneer's 3D interactive display brings you one step closer to seeing a girl in her knickers

Among the expected netbooks and digiframes encountered at this year's Computex, the gang at Engadget Chinese have stumbled across this beauty. Pioneer's unnamed 3D imaging / sensing device contains a wholesome, dancing three dimensional figure. The camera in the top of the cannister keeps an eye out for contact, and if the operator touches the figure, her clothes disappear... behaving much like the avatars you meet up with in the "red light district" of Second Life. No, this thing doesn't appear to be available commercially -- and shame on you for even asking! Video after the break.

purpose?
That's what she said.
Purpose: To boldly go where no geek has gone before.
Touching naked avatars obviously
best device ever!.
3D pr0nz. Duh.
Tommorrow is friday so I am already one step closer to seeing a girl in her knickers.
Her what?
I like skank!
non-useful
Ya, if I touch my girl right, her clothes come off too. I'm guessing a lot of you guys at Computex wouldn't understand...
dolls dont count
Does your mom count?
sure, if you're into old mean women.
I love how the tag sais "Touch me!"
This is such a cheap device. I worked for a company last year that was raving about this tech that created the same thing, they were talking about how earth shattering it was. It uses the same tech from that old time traveler Sega game that came out 10 years ago. Not really 3d, mirrors and a device that tracks where your hand is in the line of of view. Nothing special. Actually pretty cheap and easily done.
Yeah the 3d mirror tech is possibly very old tech (virtual image with concave mirror and 45 degree straight mirror) this however is slightly more advanced I think. It appears to use a fresnel lens or similar so not sure how this is creating the 3d effect...
question: cant see the face, but if it does show the face of the figure does it let you edit the face, or is that gonna be a month fee in order for that to happen?
question: paypal or google checkout?
knickers? lol
make it real size and combine with Project Natal
*Waits for extra crazy 3D Japanese TV Game show*
She's so inviting. I wonder if she's of age? I've had bad experiences with knickered girls...
I'm assuming this is the same "project image on pane of glass" that has been used for years, that only looks 3d from straight on, and if you look at it from the side it looks exactly as 2d as it actually is?
It's just hard to tell from the video, since the camera never moves.
That's exactly what it is. That's why her head looks cutoff. The camera is not pointing at the correct angle to see the whole thing. Cheap gimmick.
Still, it looks kinda cool.
Plus, panties!! Tee Hee.
at least the adult entertainment industry will dig this.
I can't believe no one's mentioned Star Wars yet...
What a waste from Pionner
Of all the possible examples they could've used to show an interactive 3D display, they went with a scantily-clad, dancing woman whose clothes can be removed. What does that tell you about 1) the designers 2) their target demographic?
I'm not complaining, I think it's pretty funny.
now if this was a portable body scanner...
i could finally get rid of my Mad magazine x-ray glasses
First Natal, then this. It's all a matter of time until Japan gives us real 3D girl games with *cough* interactive scenes.
as a nerd, in light of what the video showed, I have to ask . . can it run crysis?
... you dirty old man ...
Why use this when your favorite pr0n site is a Google away?
Yes, Cortana will finally be mine...
