"iPhone V3" placeholders pop up in Carphone Warehouse systems -- white model coming too?

Look, we're not definitely saying that Apple's gonna announce a new iPhone in 16 and 32GB capacities on Monday -- we'll leave that sort of certainty to Unkie Walt -- but we will say that the evidence is starting to get overwhelming. Today's whispers bring us "iPhone32GbV3" and iPhone 16GbV3" inventory placeholders popping up in mammoth UK retailer Carphone Warehouse's systems, with each size notably coming in both black and white editions. That's the first inkling we've seen of color choices, but we're not making too much of it, since it's entirely possible whoever entered this info was just hitting all the possibilities. We're also not seeing anything to indicate that rumored cheaper 4GB version either, so there's a lot still up in the air as we get closer to the Philnote -- keep a sharp eye, we'll let you know.

Say you work for a company that produces product specifications. One day your boss asks you to have a specification for a particular gadget done by tomorrow. However to do this it means you have to actually take measurements from the prototype you have in front of you and enter them into the analytic program, which does a very computationally intensive analysis that takes many hours. Or, you can try to guess the measurements and enter them in. However, if you entered the incorrect numbers .. the analysis will still take a very long time and by the time it's completed it will only show that errors were made .. and you'll have to redo the whole thing. My point is that it's better to take the measurements because when you speculate, you make the spec late.

Maybe they can eventually make a 120GB phone (and have it be able to use a BES directly) so I can have 1 electronic device. Or, maybe they'll just keep making cool and fancy toys that the mommies who drive Lexuses (and their husbands who were designer jeans and t-shirts to events) can show off. Don't get me wrong, I'm a mac fan - I have 2, and have had many previous versions. I own several ipods and yes, my wife, who does not drive a Lexus (nor do I wear designer jeans and t-shirts), has an iphone. It's perfect for her, but it's still a very cool, very pretty toy.

So where does it cross the line for you from "toy" to something useful? You are aware that the current 16GB and the upcoming 32GB limit is entirely space-related, right? Are you waiting for Apple to break the laws of physics? Or would you rather Apple just made a device that's 4 times bigger to accommodate that much storage?

Your post contains no reasoning whatsoever that supports your opinion that the iPhone is just a "toy", especially since it singlehandedly revolutionized the smartphone market and you don't seem to recognize that, or in fact recognize what it is that makes the iPhone as popular as it is. Here's a hint: it's not hype. If it was hype, it would have gone the way of the G1. Think about it.

I'm wondering what you guys do with 32GB of space.... i guess at least 25GB will be users available.... OS, and other Apple stuff taking some space... it's less then 7GB, but it's not the point
My phone has a 2GB sdmicro card. I have 1.2GB of music in it and 100MB worth of apps, 200MB, of app cache (browser, email, and whatever the apps hoard space for). Someone actually carries 20GB of music, video on their phone? or wants to? If you have that much music, video, do you actually listen to it? I have pandora, the I longest I can remember streaming is probably 30 minutes during the day. I tend to delete apps that I don't use after a while, because I don't like going through a thousand icons before getting to what I want.
What's everyone else using their space for?

I've seen a guy with a white Iphone taking pictures at Coimbra University this monday. First I couldn't believe it because it was white, and I thought it was the sun light but now i don't know anymore... it had the apple logo and has edge rounded (like the edges of macbook air)

I'm glad people like you don't get what you want! most people want an easy to use device without all the extras that just get in the way. you just give directions without actually leading... we have enough politicians in the USA

you don't even know what you want, you just want to make noise. explain why it needs a different size and a keyboard! if you look the last 3 texting records have all been done on the iPhone's virtual keyboard! Secondly you should draw SEVERAL different form factors that keep the device pocket friendly and has a 3.5" inch screen scalable from 320 X 480 also make it attractive.

Even though they are an Official retailer of the iPhone in the UK, the Carphone Warehouse system is far from a reliable source of information.

There are plenty of phones in the system which they do not and never will sell. e.g. there is an entry for the (non existent) iPhone 3G 8GB White
