It's getting close, people -- the Palm Pre officially
goes on sale for Sprint Premiere customers tonight at invite-only launch parties around the country, while the rest of us can get in on the action bright and early
tomorrow morning at 8AM. Of course, Palm and Sprint have been trying to
spin the launch as a bit more low-key than the usual Apple hysteria, and so far it looks like things are pretty quiet -- actually, we haven't heard a peep about lines anywhere so far, which seems a little strange to us. So what's going on out there? Anyone camping out tonight? Setting multiple alarms? Drinking all night and getting to
Best Buy with no pants on? Or is everyone waiting for
Monday? Sound off!

I can't believe that anyone who has an account with Engadget and takes the time to leave a comment doesn't know why the Pre is a big deal.
I am getting up at 5 a.m. to get mine at Best Buy. They only have 5 available!
Ha ha postin this from a pre ! The iphone ist not and I like the keyboard on my blackberry better
Also the touch isn't as responsive as the iphone although the multi app is nice ...are you listing jobs
I made a few phone calls... Both Best Buy and Sprint stores are doing a "First come first serve" ticket system. So as you arrive, they will be handing out tickets. Each ticket represents one Palm Pre. So if you get a ticket, you get a Pre.
I will be getting up early, and will be arriving at the local Sprint store at 7:30am. I will read my an e-book till they start handing out tickets.
If they run out... Then I will head over to the local Best Buy, as they do not start handing out tickets until 9:00am.
nobody cares about the Pre because its NOT A GSM PHONE! Even if I was handed one right now for free, I wouldnt know what to do with it. No way in hell am i signing up with Sprint's network
Sorry, it's a great phone. Maybe I'll consider the GSM version come Christmas 09...
Who am I kidding... I'm getting a qwerty Android tegra the moment it's announced.
I would love to camp out and buy a Pre but employees are restricted for the time being. For the next 3-6 months, if the Instinct is any example. I am generally happy with my BB Curve except for its slow processor (with all encryption/security features on) and the terrible browser. Mostly I just want a phone with a webkit-based browser, a modern media player (bookmarks, hello?) , and all the email/IM talents of the Blackberry. WebOS/Pre seems like the perfect fix but all stock is being saved for customers. Which is understandable given Sprint's financial situation. I guess it is lucky for me and 6000 others in Network Ops that we will soon be rebadged to Ericsson and the employee rule will no longer apply. I don't know anything more than what has been published in newspapers but my best guess is that Hesse has been waiting to sign the paperwork until after the launch of the Palm Pre, so that Press is focused on the product and not the state of the company. Announcement could be as soon as this weekend, I don't know, but I can't see any reason to wait after the launch of the Pre.
Since I can't use my old plan with my Pre, I'm probably not going to bother. The iPhone looks better and if I have to pay close to the same monthly fee I'm probably going to buy the device with more app capability and the ability to talk and surf at the same time.
If they would let me keep my plan, then I would get a pre.
i'd get it if it's on verizon after sprints 6 months are up because my plan expires then and this phone looks amazing.
Where's the "I live abroad but would wait in line if it were possible"-option ?
OMG i want one so bad but I can only get one if i open another line with sprint or make a family plan : ( ughhhhh choiccesss..
is it really worth it? I am walking around with a bb curve 8330 but extreamly tempted to obtain a pre...
Apparently, I only stand in line for Taylor Swift, but I preorder my hardware, and the pre isn't one that I preordered.
This poll is missing a "Hell No" option. I'm sticking with the iPhone. The Pre has no chance of being a better offering. Period.
Until the pre gets 2,000 fart apps, I am not intersted.
I had a chance to have 20 minutes with the pre earlier today. pretty nice piece of hardware, but i still feel like my iphone is the top dog for the time being. I'm not being a fanboy, I'm just giving my opinion.
to the people going for a pre tomorrow, you will be happy with it. I see it as something that's going to be something pretty big.
How about: "No, but I'll be in line for GSM/3G version anytime (soon?)"
Where's the poll option for "I don't have a phone, and I'm not getting a Pre"?
Screw the Pre. I've been burned enough times by Palm and their crappy phones with no firmware fixes (Treos) to write them off forever. I'll stick with my BlackBerry.
Where is the option for,"I hate cell phones and everything they stand for."
Wheres the option for: I went to the sprint store at 5:30, am on one now, and it owns?
SERO customers will be able to upgrade to other phones as you have been grandfathered in. There is no requirement for you to change your plan unless you are going to the Pre or Instinct.
Pre is nothing more than a iphoney
And yes I have a iphone
"And yes I have a iphone"
Oh wow! I wouldn't have guessed that!
How about a choice for "I'm waiting for another much better cellphone" (Touch Diamond2).
hey hey hey
