Samsung N310 now available to order in the US

Have you been captivated by the coverage that Samsung's N310 has been getting -- and more than a little eager to get in on the action yourself? Could you at least pretend for the moment? Best Buy has just made the lovable netbook available for ordering online in the States. $479.99 gets you a 10.1-inch netbook with a 6-cell battery, an Atom N270 CPU, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, and all the other good stuff you've been reading about. If you order now you can expect to get your device in 1-2 weeks.

I have a seriously hard time considering a $500 netbook a "deal."
You took the words right out of my mouth
especially if you end up with an N270.
This is like puting Mercedes announces NEW McLaren SLR! and then puting a Smart car.
I don't see this being $150 better than a standard Aspire One either for the same ram, same CPU, and same Hard drive. The 6 cell battery is probably the biggest mark-up item.
A price point in the $200-$300's is really important, much higher and you can get a low-end dual-core Pentium machine or an AMD machine with ATI integrated graphics. I think the race will be on when the non-intel guys start showing up and we can get 8+ hours battery life so carrying it around all day is truly possible.
479?
Whatever happened to these things being below 299.
Not to mention the giant Samsung logo on the back kills it.
$479 in June 2009= $299 in Oct 2008- remember, recession earn less, pay more.
Whoa!
Another VA$TLY overpriced Netbook so losers can Myspace-Twitter-Facebook their stupid jobs away whoring themselves out!
AHAHAH!!
Yea...too expensive
I've had a HP Mini 1000 (1030NR at around $350 from Best Buy) for over three months...
It has the N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 10.1" 1024 x 600 display, 16GB HD, webcam, wireless and weighs less. Sure, the bigger HD is nice... but I'm just not seeing why this is coming to market so late. Oh, and my HP runs OS X rather well :-)
Am I missing something?
How is this any better than the previous models?
I paid less than that for my nc-10 with identical specs, back in November.
I'm not sure Sammy understands how pricing is supposed to work.
Same specs+time passed=lower price
Same Price+time passed=improved specs.
Sammy fails at math.
You can get ASUS netbook with same specs from Best Buy for only $349.
Or for the same list (lower street), you could have the HP2140 with metal chassis, HD screen, and half-pound less weight...
???
The only thing i like about this netbook is the chiclet keyboard. The Price is BS, they are trying to make up what they have been losing over the past year. I really want a netbook, but i will never spend that much money on one.
And if you get the HP Mini from Verizon it's $199!
N310 is conceptualised by well known Japanese designer and the outer shell is rubberised ... can withstand rugged lifestyle and hence the price. The chicklet keyboard is neat and so are its features. Its for the fashion conscious to be honest and perhaps for people who like things really neat even if its a netbook. The dark blue and black look pretty stylish actually. Its a good thing Best Buy is selling this book with a 6 cell. Netbooks have to have a good battery life - hopefully this one does. Not bad at all :-)
The ASUS 1000HE pwns this pathetic effort in every department.
looks like my dreams of paying more for the Samsung name have come true! oh happy day!
or I could get the dell with the z520? And a bag, and virus protection...
