MSI's X-Slim X320 now shipping in the US for $599
MSI's X-Slim X340 has already made its way out into this brave, new world, but the version that checks in at a score less (for whatever reason) is just now starting to do the same. If you're looking for the least expensive way to snag yourself an X-Slim, head on over to one of a few reputable e-tailers and part ways with $599. Depending on courier and location, you should be reveling in your decision within a few business days. Oh, if only everything else in this world was so easy.

How is this any good? It has netbook hardware (Atom processor) and runs Vista and costs 600$.... come on seriously?
Shame there isn't an optimized operating system for this weak hardware. If Apple can run Areo like, OpenGL effects on an Intel GMA crap, why can't Vista? Will Windows 7 be any better on this Atom or is that software engineer salery at Microsoft still shoddy?
Yes windows 7 will certainly be better on this.
@Steveorevo
What makes you think Vista can't run Aero on GMA? Oh, that's what some folks over at the Internet said, so it must be true. Well I'm writing this comment on old Asus with Vista using GMA, and 1 gig! I have another Vista running on a tablet PC that is over 4 year old and I actually done some light Maya 3D on. But if those folks at the Internet and you said it can't be done then I must be seeing shit.
@Steveorevo
wtf are you talking about? Vista's Aero will work on shitty integrated graphics from 4-5 years ago.
Well... i guess if you cannon afford the Macbook air you will just have to settle for this underpowered piece of garbage.. =/
Yeah but the air has OSX..... so no thanks.
Yeah, you probably missed it, it was on this website called "Engadget" :
"Microsoft hit with lawsuit for "false" Vista ads"
http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/03/microsoft-hit-with-lawsuit-for-false-vista-ads/
I thought this had Intel's single-core CULV @ 1.4Ghz ?
@Steveorevo
While there was some discrepancy with the Vista-capable fiasco back then (your article is from 2007), this integrated Intel graphics definitely runs Aero.
In general, any graphics that supports DirectX 9 will run Aero. Note that Dx9 was released in 2002, which means, it's nearly impossible to find a new computer these days that doesn't do Aero.
That said, Win7 will probably run a little smoother, just because it uses less memory/CPU/etc.

eat my ass...600 bucks for this slow ass pos...do yourself a favor and go get one of the new dell studio 14z's
While I wouldn't suggest one of those to somebody looking for a laptop in this particular category, the 14z is a nice piece of hardware at a reasonable price.
The Acer Timeline series is a much better buy for not much more.
msi must be nuck and futz!
with atom z530?
They better put that in a cellphone. even x340 with culv3500 is slow.
Dell 14z is the real gem, if it were only available in europe.
Vista Premium + Atom, what a joke.
Yeah its gonna slower than xp. It sure still will be useable. But theres no point really. XP is fine for netbooks imo
One of it's features listed on Newegg: Glare.
Is this a new less powerful X340? X320?? Did I read the title right? X320? i heard of X340 but X320? what's the spec on this?
nevermind i just read on and saw what I need to know!
the picture describes the product, a big L.
You stole my avatar. I've had it for years. Change it you unoriginal bastard.
what are you gonna do? bite my ear off over the internet?
Products like this are nothing more than 'lets suck up money from idiots'.
Not ready to give up my Air yet.
macbook air...blows alot of hot air..thats about it
Dont hate, I love mine:)the only thing that blows is you......
Using a mac is like making love to beautiful woman.
With aids..
no that would be Vista :)
Lovely machine.. bit too much tho..
I would much rather bet the 14.1 in acer timeline at 599. real life 8 hrs battery, SU3500 is slow but much better than ATOM and has an integrated DVD drive
thats what i am thinking too.
14' acer timeline has su9400 option too. way better choice than this mac knockoff.
I guess the 5 metres of internal tape is factored into the cost.....Phew!
Slim stuff never comes cheap. You want slim, you gonna pay, and apparently this applies to all gadgets.

LOL. Thanks for a laugh...
Looks good.
Pretty expensive for a slow proc and 2gb of DDR2 memory. Buying this would be like buying the original macbook air... Complete waste of money for the equipment you get.
not understanding the hating on this machine. it's perfect for people like me who have a desktop or laptop but are looking for on-the-go mobility for work. I bought a dell mini 9, which I like a lot, but this is clearly better for people who work on large spreadsheets (like me) or dabble in some simple Dreamweaver stuff and need a bigger screen without the loss in mobility. 13.4inches is a far cry from the 8.9 inches or whatever I have on my Mini 9. and a 2.86lb carrying weight does count when compared to a Dell 14z at 4.30lbs, if you're carrying it around all day.
in that case, 13.3' Acer timeline would be a better choice. Atom processor is way to slow to work with vista.
if ya can't carry around 4 lbs comfortably all day then you seriously need to rethink your stratgey...icrapphone or windows smartphone maybe your best bet then
More of the same disturbing trend, larger overpriced "netbooks."
way cheaper than my thinkpad x300, but i know what I'd chose in a heartbeat! :)
Hey looks like it might be able to cut cheese! Oh wait... wrong blog. :D
chk this out :)

Wow. Those Ports look HUGE on the side there. You'd think they could adopt the newer Micro Connections to tone the ports down some. Even with the price point the micro connections wouldn't push the cost that much higher. It's like trying to put truck tires on a Miata - just don't do it.
With the new releases from Apple today, the macbook air at its cheapest is now $1299. I was going to spend the extra cash and get the refub $999 1.6ghz MBA, but it's no longer available. I'm not doing any hardcore computing, just word and internet surfing and downloading.......
is this right for me? I checked out the dell 14z, but it's a bit heavier than i'm looking for.... and i need a 13" screen for my eyes, so i was excited when this popped up...
what do you guys think... try and wait and see if the $999 air pops back up on apple's site or go with this one? i was looking to buy soon.....
(and no i'm not getting a MBA off ebay when i can get a free ipod touch and printer with a refurbished MBA purchase from apple.com)
