Like so many other dodgy things in life, ASUS' Eee PC T91 has been around the block a time or two. It wasn't until this week, however, that ASUS finally came clean with a full specifications list for the swivel-screen netvertible. The 3G-equipped machine also packs a GPS module, Bluetooth, WiFi, an 8.9-inch LED-backlit touch panel, Intel's Atom Z520 CPU, Ethernet, a multicard reader, VGA output, twin USB 2.0 sockets and audio in / out ports. Sadly, there's still no definite US release date, but we suspect it can't be too far off now. In related news, this very machine was caught showcasing its elite multitouch skills with Windows 7, and if you're interested in seeing exactly how that went down, hop on past the break and mash play.

Asus is really good at annoying people with their TOTAL lack of information I have been noticing. It seems they would be better to say here is the RANGE we are aiming for.. rather than annoy a bunch of people, and not say anything.
@The Walrus and @Kelvinyam Many "3G" networks do require a SIM, since they're UMTS-based. If you have "3G" here, you are using a SIM.
So to ragetek, yes you could put you phones SIM in this unit.. but your operator might not like it. They'd prefer you bought a data plan, or used their shitty USB dongle.
Guys, my English is bad, I don't understand it well. In the end of the YouTube video he told that it is not shipping with multitouch screen. Is it mean that if I install Windows 7 on the XP version of T91 the multitouch won't work because the screen is not multitouch, so I have to wait for a version of T91 with pre-installed Windows 7 to have a multitouch display?
This is what a netbook should be equipped: Touch screen. It would be very exciting using this with Window 7. My only concern would be the un-upgradable 1GB RAM.
Did you see the thing recently about how the upgrade price might be $50? That's pretty reasonable in my opinion. I was thinking the same as you, but if the upgrade price is only $50 I'll be able to upgrade all the machines I installed the beta/RC on. Also, is that a vi/vim icon?
Anyone know if this has an active digitizer (for pressure sensitive stylus input)? Multitouch is always nice, but the ability to take notes and do precise Photoshop work is what will put this on my list.
Also, if they surprised everyone and put an ION base in this, it'd be pretty awesome.
I don't think this has an active digitizer, which pretty much makes it a gimmick in my opinion. My tablet PC has both active and passive, and the passive digitizer is nigh useless for note taking, which I know all too well after losing my stylus. I've been too cheap to buy another one so far but I'll probably have to order one soon.
Could be great, but they took too long getting it out; the Lenovo S12 with Ion will hammer it for performance in August. Plus there's the idiotic fixed 3-cell battery it's reported to have, and the price which is just slightly too high. Give me the same thing but with an Ion chipset, the option for 6 cells, HDMI-out, and not more than £400. The GPS and TV are entirely "meh"-grade features.
I own HP TouchSmarttx2 and trust me once you start touching you wouldnt want to stop... http://www.flickr.com/photos/fl-r/3582658306/ it costs almost double as t91, 12.x" screen, dual core 2.2Ghz proc, 3 GB RAM (max 4GB) but doesnt have gps and 3g which I really miss( i had unlimited 3g for 2 y now).
If i would have to choose ... between t91 and tx2 i would pick up probably t91 because of gps and 3g... only bummer might be speed and limited ram :( they made it fixed probably b ecause of microsoft licensing restrictions for windows 7 ... to make it cheaper.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.

And the fact that they copied Apple's "patented" pinch to zoom...lol
What's with the giggles?
He's laughing at the Eee PC logo on top of the screen, I guess?
This would be really sweet if it had the N280 and possible ION. It seems way to underpowered otherwise.
Wow, Microsoft are really preventing netbooks "from moving forward in terms of specification advancement" aren't they.
Did you read the article?
Pretty sure he was being sarcastic
internet sarcasm will always go straight over my head
If Id read the hybrid storage article first however...
Where is the promised fm-transmitter???
3G?? as in you can use your mobile phone sim in it?????? :o
3G is not GSM. It is a way of sending data and not necessarily limited to phones
More like a wireless broadband using 3G network.

Thats would I understood too. I guess we will have to wait and see.
Models with XP will not have multitouch.
Models with Windows 7 will have multitouch.

USB "sockets"? That ruined the whole article for me. :(
8.9 inch screen? Fail.
10.2 minimum.
That is why Asus is making the T101H.
when can i have one
ebay ???
It's actually quite nice for a netbook.
Win7 rocks.
What sucks is taking it back off the machines I won't be able to afford upgrading.
(Yeah yeah, torrents. Sorry, I'm an ethical fuddy-duddy)
(-and on brief occasions a bit of a giggle-puss)
When my Mini 9 dies I'd LOVE to get into a netvertible.

I've been waiting to buy this since CES, I'd gladly pay the premium for 7 and the multi-touch screen just get it to the US already!
Amen.

@iofthestorm: As a Toshiba M700 user, I agree with your entire post.
The specs say that it comes with a stylus, so...
