HP introduces cheaper dv2, dv3, and dv6 laptops, fantastically ugly dv6 Artist Edition
HP's just kicked out a slew of updates to its laptop lines, and thankfully the biggest news is that they've gotten cheaper. The HP dv2z brings the low end of the 12.1-inch AMD Neo ultraportable down to $599, while the larger Intel-based dv3t is now $649. The dv6 gets two new editions, including the pictured $949 dv6z Artist Edition 2 preloaded with a bunch of Corel art software and a $649 dv6t base model that thankfully loses the awful lid artwork. Seriously, we know HP had to use the design after it won the HP / MTV Notebook Design Contest, but we just don't think too many people want to rock the"surfing peacock" look. There are also a bunch of new eco-friendly printers if you're into that sort of thing -- hit the read link for the lowdown.

Finally! A post not about Apple!
oh great, we've got the same name
hi5
Since when is Pleo a Apple product? I must have missed that WWDC blog update!!!
hi5 peter!
@sacapuntas,
I was just commenting on the generally insane amount of Apple posts there were today. 90% of the posts must have been about Apple!
You guys are such a bunch of whiners. WWDC happens once a year. You don't HAVE to click on the Apple stuff if you don't want to, although I'm sure Joshua and company enjoy the traffic you generate.. You can always head over to Gizmodo where the content was only 80% Apple today.
Crazy lid, man! Do you have to drop a tab to get the "full experience"?
The red window pane is probably best...
jeeze thats the ugliest laptop ever. the person you design that had to be on LSD or mushrooms.
Well, LSD-aided design scored Windows 7 some points in the wallpapers category.
Well, in fact, that is precisely why people do drugs... to make ugliness more tolerable.
The cover doesn't look so horrid to me, but then again, I'm not sitting with it on my lap, and there are many other far uglier laptops around. :o
as it turns out I find that design quite tolerable. Im kind of ashamed that I want that.
I love how the name of the article was changed to include "fantastically ugly dv6 Artist Edition"
Sometimes you realize what the real story is 30 seconds after you post!
exactly what i was going to say..
LOL
I mean... it truly is fantastically ugly, fugly like I never thought possible. I think it's time for an Engadget ugliest laptop of all time category. That Toshiba gamer number could be in it, several Dell XPS models... but yeah that HP would probably take the cake.
I read the article headline, then decided to read about the N97 before I clicked here. Then decided to read this article. Then read your comment, hurried up and scrolled up...there are now bricks on my couch.
It looks pretty cool to him. I'm not really here to argue with Nilay over art, anyways.
It's about time they lowered the price on the dv2. That thing was way overpriced.
I am not a fantastically ugly artist so I am going to pass on this one...
that is straight fugly
The snozzberries taste like snozzberries!
snozzberry?! who's ever heard of a snozzberry?
*We* are the music makers... and *we* are the dreamers of dreams.
The HP logo just makes it.
Good grief yeah, who's stupid idea was it to plonk it there?
The design wouldn't be that bad if you removed the little targets, they just make it look a mess.
Looks like someone wasn't looking where they were going on their Segway and hit a peacock...
haha. "fantastically ugly" brilliant engadget.
looks graet...
Do you know where I can buy one?? Do they ship to Germany??
