They weren't just
setting up Project Natal on the
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon set last night for nothing, you know -- Microsoft's Kudo Tsunoda was on the show, giving a little demo to Jimmy, John Krasinski, and Stephen Moyer. The games were the same Richocet and Burnout Paradise demos
we got to play with at E3, but hey, now it's celebrities looking silly on camera instead of us, right? Some are hypothesizing that everyone had to wear the red jumpsuits to compensate for the bright studio lighting and lack of a uniform background behind the players, but it could have just been a Fallon flourish. We're looking into it -- in the meantime, check the video below.
Update: We just hit up Fallon's producer, who told us the suits were just for fun, so that's that. Also, anyone notice Fallon asking Kudo if this would ship in 2010 and Kudo declining to answer during some crosstalk? Good times.

Personally I think this thing looks amazing. I hear all this negative talk from people about movement limitations as if they actually worked on the game. So what I want to know from those people: What are your credentials? Are you an engineer or some sort and have some inside info.
What I saw on Jimmy Fallon's show was concrete proof that Natal works. It was being used in an unsual setting (a studio), with studio lights and played by people who had never played the game before and it look like it worked fine. In fact, when they demo Burnt Out, all 4 people played it with no problems. And they couldn't take their eyes off the game.
Is it going to be perfect? Probably not, but imagine if it does live up to the hype. Just imagine playing Mirror's Edge, Madden, Boxing, or any other sports game. And I am sure that when this comes out, the local gaming stores will have this game set up for demos. By the way, you can STILL choose to just use your handheld wireless. Its not like that is going away. I think this will be a fun addition.
Some of your people are denying your own eyes. And it sounds as if some of you people don't want to let go of the electronic football game where the bottom shakes and the guys just slide across the metal field. (I still couldn't get that RB to stop running out of bounds). Chill and try it first before y ou start taking apart or put up your credentials and explain why the earth is still flat.
I am wholly uninterested in flailing around like an idiot.

It seems that a lot of people here don't quite understand how infrared works.
Infrared/=/Heat
Sometimes the two are present in conjunction with each other but not always.
Okay, you may all return to your baseless arguments now.
Maybe the red suits are just for fun. Maybe they are really to aid tracking.
But why would they all be wearing the same brown shoes? Even if you put on jump suits for fun, wouldn't you just keep on your regular shoes with it? Just a thought.
I can't wait to see the grand theft auto version of this. However when it comes to 1st person shooters. I still prefer a keyboard and mouse over everything else. If I have to dress up in an orange jump shoot to make this work it will be yet another doomed microsoft product.
Has no body noticed that the picture the character does not mirror his movements??? Is that the Lag??... if so thats a serious deal breaker.... I hope they fix it for final release....
Please engadget. No hulu vids. Us poor european's are blocked.
yours
long time reader.
wow, the lag is just MASSIVE, especially in burnout, there was one scene where one of the guys had the steering wheel at 90 degrees and the car was just going forward for about half a second which is pretty huge...
i remember playing with the eye-toy on the ps2 which was about the same thing and there was little noticeable lag (most games weren't so sensitive to it) and it detected you just fine. if that failed in time why won't this? i mean, except for massive advertising and 360 fanboys
Any chan you would not use that damn Hulu for videos? People at the other side of the ditch want to see them to...
fallon is useless, please stop covering what he does.
if i ever met kudo, i'd have to break his cocky little neck. and that shit is stupid looking, looks like they are just trying so hard to be wii
Speaking of lag, looks how out of sync the picture is in comparison to the avatar... it'll be fun for about as long as the Wii, but what I'm worried about is they will make it confusing for consumers as possible.
