Asus Eee PC T91 starts shipping today

Great news, fans of multitouch (at least in Windows 7): According to the crazy kids at Netbook Market, the Eee PC T91 -- that 8.9-inch resistive touch screen convertible tablet sporting an Intel Atom Z520 (1.33GHz) processor, Windows XP Home, a max of 2GB memory and a 16GB SSD, will start shipping today. And you know what that means! It's only a matter of time before some sick person guts one of these things and sends us a pics and / or video. We'll be keeping an eye out, and we'll be sure to notify the proper authorities.

quite possibly the only current netbook worth buying
Josh @ Jun 15th 2009 9:48AM
@nicknick, you forgot to make fun of its ridiculously glossy screen
nice reflection btw
L @ Jun 15th 2009 10:20AM
Please, you left out complaints about how the screen is totally too small, too big, too low-res, and how it is too expensive for a netbook because only sub-$200 should really count as netbooks etc etc etc ad absurdum.
Adderz @ Jun 15th 2009 9:20AM
This might of been relevant when you know...the Z520 wasnt such a POS, and Asus WERNT phasing out their 9" models.
About 3 months too late Asus...and yet at the same time 4 months too early to take advantage of 7.

I wonder, if the T101H is coming soon as well...
maveric101 @ Jun 15th 2009 11:08PM
i hope so. the t101h was the one i was really looking forward to. if it has good battery life (more than 5 hours) i'll probably get it.
frank @ Jun 15th 2009 9:31AM
i can't even find where to buy one!
superhobo @ Jun 15th 2009 9:34AM
Tempting...but I'll wait.
Kelmon @ Jun 15th 2009 9:41AM
Ah, good ol' multitouch - a technology looking for a purpose in life...
artissco @ Jun 15th 2009 9:42AM
16GB is too small for Win 7 :/
Sam @ Jun 15th 2009 11:10AM
i thought it was the minimum for 32bit?

vLite. Story of the netbook.
Lee @ Jun 15th 2009 11:24PM
I am sorry, but I current installed Win7 RC on My 901Go (8GB x 2).
Disk C 8GB = XP from Asus, Disk D 8GB = Win7 RC.
In fact, After install Win7, the Disk D still have 1.5GB free space.
Rudy @ Jun 15th 2009 9:45AM
very close I was looking at this one but I am still holding out for the Viliv 7 I already have a netbook and a gateway tablet.
hari @ Jun 15th 2009 9:48AM
afaik , this is not multitouch.
and with that cpu, touch screen is kinda pointless.
Alan Strangis @ Jun 23rd 2009 4:12PM
Multitouch works in Windows 7. Not in XP.

16 gb ssd? Atom? No more than 20 tabs in Firefox? No multitouch? I'd also like keyboard with separated buttons.
Chris @ Jun 15th 2009 10:01AM
I was initially really interested in this, but the lag and steady drop in specs has made me pass it by. A non-replaceable battery, 16GB "SSD" (i.e. a USB drive hardwired onto the board) and £450 are making me wait either for the Lenovo S12, which will crush it in terms of performance, or the Archos9, which has superior screen size & HD size so far.
L @ Jun 15th 2009 10:22AM
Looking forward to the reviews of this one - I think I'll buy the T101 or one of its successors later this year.
barc0de @ Jun 15th 2009 12:51PM
If you don't like it, you can always wait a few days and Asus will have announced this thing's successor and about 5 other netbook variations with the same internals.
MeowR- @ Jun 15th 2009 1:07PM
Ubuntu. Oh YES.
Jeff Lewis @ Jun 15th 2009 5:02PM
Are you sure the T91 has multitouch? The one they were showing was a prototype and the rep said it wouldn't be the screen they'd be using in the final release model.
Also, a netbook with 1.33GHz Atom, 16GB SSD and no removable battery - and no easy upgrade paths?
Hey - I want a touchscreen netbook probably more than most people - but I'll pass on this one thanks.
Lee @ Jun 15th 2009 11:30PM
Yes, I am very very sure it's come with multi-touch (resistance) screen.
I play the multitouch T91 in CompuTex, Run Windows 7, I can use two fingers
to draw two lines. and, Ask Asus men about release date, they tell me this
multi-touch panel just got Microsoft Windows 7 Logo. so there is no problem
to release.
reckydee @ Jun 16th 2009 2:26AM
I'd have to fall into the consensus like the rest of the sort. I love(d) Asus, but since their botchy spam 'eee' marketing attempts of yesteryear as well as the consistent decline in quality hardware specs, that love withered. Please don't fail the T101 or I just might go imports only. :(
