Well, let's be frank. The Knight Rider GPS, while brilliant, is a bit of a stretch. Isn't it a little sad to be living out your boyhood fantasies of excitement and danger vicariously, behind the wheel of your '92 Buick Roadmaster station wagon? On the other hand, perhaps you're ready to put away your childhood dreams and hit the road in a manner more befitting your average schlub. The official Homer Simpson voice skin for the TomTom GPS features the voice of the iconic cartoon dad, including such gems as "Take the third right. We might find an ice cream truck! Will this work on the Tom Tom for iPhone?
I recently bought a Garmin Nuvi 265WT for my wife, but we are about to move to LA and I will need one to get around as well.
Any recommendations?
Not sure I want to have to use my iPhone as a nav system.
Get another Nuvi. If you don't, you'll wish you did.
Yeah, I'm wondering if voice packs will be supported on the iPhone application as well. It sure would be nice if they were but I'm not getting my hopes up. The question is, Homer Simpson or Mr. T...? I honestly can't decide.

Its fun although the clear sarcasm of the "you can hold your head up high" is more a sideshow bob remark than a homer simpson one, he could say it but not in such a tone, that's a bit out of character IMHO.
I thought the same thing. I haven't seen the Simpsons in years now but every time I see a newer episode Homer generally seems to be out of character. It seems like he was sort of recreated.

oh man i just bought a tomtom gps a few days ago. i'm gonna download this skin if it doesnt cost too much extra.
At least it's an OPTION and not the only voice on a device. Kudos to TomTom for that. It'd be a fun novelty for a while and then start to grate on my nerves, personally.

This would be GREAT, for about a whole 2 days. Then the novelty would wear off. I've installed different voices on my Nuvi and it's fun for a while, but then I just want the directions without all the drama.
I can see a whole new voiceover market being born here.

I will find it hard to give up my Mr. T voice. I got the real Mr. T, Kim Cattrall, Dennis Hopper and more from a company called Navtones. They are partners with TomTom I believe.
Homer is pretty cool but I think Mr. T can take him.

Enjoy your 300-500 charge/discharges (likely on the lower-end of the figure due to hot interior of car in summer) before your battery gets unusable running times and you really can't use this thing on the battery at all.
