Alleged shot of Motorola Morrison for T-Mobile has us swinging wildly betwixt love and disgust
Is the world ready for a white, black, and shiny metallic blue Android phone? Well, the world may not have to be -- but we strongly suspect this picture claiming to be the Motorola "Morrison" for T-Mobile USA is real since it exactly matches the thumbnail in that leaked roadmap from a while back. We can only guess from the coloration that this is likely going to be billed as a youth device -- and Motorola's said in the past that it wants to build its Android lineup around a social networking platform, which all the kiddies are into these days -- so we're thinking this could end up being positioned below the G1 and its contemporaries / successors in T-Mobile's catalog. Would we buy it? Yeah, maybe -- the keyboard looks usable, but maybe we're still so Android-starved around here that our judgment can't be trusted.

F-F-F-FUGLY.
Disagree. I think it looks pretty good. Much better than silver with a chrome bezel like every other phone out there these days...
Am I the only one who caught the musical refference?
i also disagree it looks ok (i won't call it gorgeous). i like the fact that it doesn't have the trackball and other buttons in the way when your typing in landscape mode. i don't know if this will be my g1 replacement yet i have to see how big th screen is and if this phone as powerful (or hopefully more) than the g1.
Well, it's not THAT bad. Though it could use a bigger screen for sure. It looked a lot better in black in its first press shot. Well, at least its no where near as ugly as that Samsung slider Android.
Disagree as well. It looks OK to me. I would definitely take the "all black" version of this phone though.
On a plus side, the screen looks pretty wide, so the portrait mode keyboard wouldn't be useless after all. There's still hope for Motorola. :)
FUGLY.
This is it. All Android devices will officially be fugly.
TareX:
It's in the Android guidlines.
Looks pretty nice if you ask me. I think this is should be called the Motorola Marmite :P
Color me curious. But is anyone really going to wait till the end of the year for it?
I'd buy it if its specs are good. Good battery life, decent screen resolution, fast processor, etc.
Not everyone is stupid enough to spend $8,692.12 on an iPhone G3S turbo regal...or whatever the bloody hell it is called...
Yea you are right... by then everyone on the planet will have a smart phone and the market will have dried up.
I'm personally looking for an android phone but by the end of the year, ther'll be so many to choose from.
Motos gotta get movin, is what I was trying to say.
Some people do actually hold out for phone upgrades, rather than skipping work to stand in lines for the latest and greatest.
The smart people wait and let the issues with the new phones get ironed out, let the price drop, or just wait for the actual new version instead of the 'update phone'
Wow, finally Motorola is doing something smart and giving people what they want.
an iPhone with a slide out keyboard. Now all they have to do is take the person in charge of color options out into the back street and shoot them 2x in the head and all will be well again at MOTO.
Maybe they'll do you while they're at it.
Um, I'm the one holding the loaded COCKED gun... dick.
If this phone actually looked liked the "G1v2" mockup(man i wish it was real) that was on Eng a few weeks ago, I would say you were right. That did look like an iPhone with a keyboard.
With that color scheme, it's clearly aimed at a younger demo. If it has a good processor, then I'll be all over, I'm diggin on that d'pad on the bottom, looks usable for game emulation. This is not a perfect looking phone, but hey, no chin...... and that's uhm... can't really think of anything else positive to say....
I don't know about that pepsi blue color. The device look hmmm ... ok... but its not great looking at all.
Nexxxxtttt.
i7500 or Huawei please.
Hmm wheres the mandatory home, menu, call, end, and back hardware buttons.... i think the phone is prob real but prob not running android.. maybe just propritary OS..
The home button looks to be inside the blue circle.
Android requires Home, Back, and Menu buttons at the absolute minimum. Having one home button inside a blue circle isn't good enough, it would render the vast majority of programs unusable.
They could get away without the Call and End buttons as long as they replaced the built in phone dialer with a custom one that had on-screen controls instead, but Menu and Back are flat out required by too many programs to just leave them out.
browse this image on an LCD screen, then either tilt it (Laptop) or move your head down whilst looking at the bottom white bar on the phone, you can see the text\images for the other buttons, it is definately andriod material.
pizzaboy's right, you can barely see little pictures. They almost look like smudges.
1.) That screen is looking pretty small to me.
2.) The color scheme is ugly as hell!
3.) Seriously???
I mean...can we get something from Moto that is for us grown folks?
I mean...I want the Huawei U8230...but if their keyboard is as ugly as someone stated it is...I want nothing to do with it.
But can some manufacturer give us a nice looking device, great Android experience, nice processor, camera, graphics, and 3.5+ screen.
That's all I ask for...all I ask for! ='[
what do you mean?
About what?
disgust
motorola come back to future, design team is covered by a retention policy???
I can see kids with Sidekicks buying this. Do people still buy Sidekicks?
Sidekicks are the most popular in inner-city urban areas.
Sweet dancing Jesus.
T-Mobile has by far the ugliest phone lineup ever.
there coming out with the touchpro 2 , my touch3g, and the samsung i8700 (or whatever that samsung android phone is called) i wouldn't say there line up is ugly.
for a second i thought that said mini-slut >.
Mini-slut? Now that's a phone I could get behind.
The cool kid with an iPhone or a Pre is going to destroy the young Motorola die-hard fanboi's adolescence... If you're gonna convince your mom you really need a smartphone with enhanced social networking features... at leas convince her to buy you an iPhone.
OR... buy a regular phone and spend the extra money talking to and MAYBE f* girls instead of trying to get a date on twitter!
it costs money to talk to girls? o.O
Yeah...
I dunno who buys a phone to talk to girls...
Generally i just go up to them and introduce myself...
It's free. And you don't look like a fuckin stalker.
It's free to talk to them... maybe a little extra to f* some of them... some might do it for free... but when everything fails... you sure as hell gonna need that money to go to hookers :P
Looks bulky as hell. There's a reason people still haven't built a decently thin slide-out landscape keyboard phone.
Finally, a device that makes the G1 look good!
Looks like a hit for the under-18 set. They love shiny, gaudy crap. I know I did.
Will I be able to buy one in the UK?
The only 'messaging' phone I can find in the UK is the LG KS360 :[.
no LG EnV, no samsung alias, no sidekick etc.
we have the sidekick...
Shorting Motorola stock on Monday.
and only because the color. to release this color scheme give me no faith in the intellect of the management.
The lower profits of MOTOROLA hit them in the head. I was Surprised to see the Qwerty phone RIVAL on the verizon site last week. lol
Why would they put the d-pad/mouse on the left of the keyboard? Just thinking about it is awkward...
GAMES
i dont think it wouldve been as bad if it only used hints of the metallic blue
"Is the world ready for a white, black, and shiny metallic blue Android phone?"
Well it WAS ready for a white, black, bronze phone called the G1 "white".
I say bring it on. Instead of spending millions of advertising dollars as much as Apple does, pushing the boundaries of style and form would be a next best (and likely cheaper) choice.
Good: physical keyboard, dpad
Bad: 4 row keyboard (no dedicated number keys). Ugly coloring.
I'll stick with my G1.
I love seeing all these Android products. It'd just be nice if they actually released them!
Oh lawdy lawd, that is one ugly phone. Motorola, stop this insanity: take some time to make a good phone instead of rushing out 10 pieces of shite.
I reaaly don't get it... more buttons? I thought we are progressing... what the hell is a touch screen for if u have a physical button to replace it with... ???
Gimme a large screen the roller ball, back and home that's it... with or without keyboard I don't care...
Let me click on android ui to enable whatever I want... hold back for 5 sec to power on or off etc... make it stream line.. less complicated simplistic...
And give me android... with 1gb internal memory... with microsd...
Do that moto and u have a sale...
don't call it a come back
I've bee here for years!
G3 is the future. Even the old iphones are obsolete now.

Ok I love the color scheme. Looks like some kind of NASA cell phone that they would use in space.
yeaaa im not really liking this motorola android phone....i think im gonna just wait for the Huawei android phone
I'm still waiting for a Tegra powered Android, but I sure love the directional pad on this keyboard. It looks like it was made to run emulators.
But I hate the design. What happened to minimalism? Look at the Zune, the iPhone, the Touch HD. There are all gorgeous because they are minimalistic.
Release a sexy Android PLEASE.
Nice,
would love to see some more iphone competition in Germany. T-Mobile G1 is not enough...
I need my mouse/pointer on the opposite end of the WASD keys...
/fail
looks like a great phone for emulator gaming, look at the position of the "nub"
Okay, can we all take a look at this keyboard? Am I the only one who thinks this is too simple of a keypad design? This, if an actual release, is another ugly phone that will join the other lineup of crap phones in T-mobiles phone lineup.
