Alleged shot of Motorola Morrison for T-Mobile has us swinging wildly betwixt love and disgust
Is the world ready for a white, black, and shiny metallic blue Android phone? Well, the world may not have to be -- but we strongly suspect this picture claiming to be the Motorola "Morrison" for T-Mobile USA is real since it exactly matches the thumbnail in that leaked roadmap from a while back. We can only guess from the coloration that this is likely going to be billed as a youth device -- and Motorola's said in the past that it wants to build its Android lineup around a social networking platform, which all the kiddies are into these days -- so we're thinking this could end up being positioned below the G1 and its contemporaries / successors in T-Mobile's catalog. Would we buy it? Yeah, maybe -- the keyboard looks usable, but maybe we're still so Android-starved around here that our judgment can't be trusted.

F-F-F-FUGLY.
Greg N. @ Jun 19th 2009 5:34PM
Disagree. I think it looks pretty good. Much better than silver with a chrome bezel like every other phone out there these days...
sacapuntas @ Jun 19th 2009 5:37PM
Am I the only one who caught the musical refference?
jay jay @ Jun 19th 2009 5:41PM
i also disagree it looks ok (i won't call it gorgeous). i like the fact that it doesn't have the trackball and other buttons in the way when your typing in landscape mode. i don't know if this will be my g1 replacement yet i have to see how big th screen is and if this phone as powerful (or hopefully more) than the g1.
Someperson @ Jun 19th 2009 7:41PM
Well, it's not THAT bad. Though it could use a bigger screen for sure. It looked a lot better in black in its first press shot. Well, at least its no where near as ugly as that Samsung slider Android.
Maddy @ Jun 19th 2009 8:25PM
Disagree as well. It looks OK to me. I would definitely take the "all black" version of this phone though.
On a plus side, the screen looks pretty wide, so the portrait mode keyboard wouldn't be useless after all. There's still hope for Motorola. :)
TareX @ Jun 19th 2009 10:03PM
FUGLY.
This is it. All Android devices will officially be fugly.
superhobo @ Jun 20th 2009 6:06AM
TareX:
It's in the Android guidlines.
Chasethebase @ Jun 20th 2009 12:23PM
Looks pretty nice if you ask me. I think this is should be called the Motorola Marmite :P
Dude @ Jun 19th 2009 5:36PM
Color me curious. But is anyone really going to wait till the end of the year for it?
Terrell @ Jun 19th 2009 5:42PM
I'd buy it if its specs are good. Good battery life, decent screen resolution, fast processor, etc.
General_Trelane, (retired) @ Jun 19th 2009 5:42PM
Not everyone is stupid enough to spend $8,692.12 on an iPhone G3S turbo regal...or whatever the bloody hell it is called...
jack @ Jun 19th 2009 5:43PM
Yea you are right... by then everyone on the planet will have a smart phone and the market will have dried up.
Dude @ Jun 19th 2009 5:58PM
I'm personally looking for an android phone but by the end of the year, ther'll be so many to choose from.
Motos gotta get movin, is what I was trying to say.
sotec_productions @ Jun 19th 2009 10:30PM
Some people do actually hold out for phone upgrades, rather than skipping work to stand in lines for the latest and greatest.
The smart people wait and let the issues with the new phones get ironed out, let the price drop, or just wait for the actual new version instead of the 'update phone'
General_Trelane, (retired) @ Jun 19th 2009 5:40PM
Wow, finally Motorola is doing something smart and giving people what they want.
an iPhone with a slide out keyboard. Now all they have to do is take the person in charge of color options out into the back street and shoot them 2x in the head and all will be well again at MOTO.
seanlindo06 @ Jun 19th 2009 8:09PM
Maybe they'll do you while they're at it.
General_Trelane, (retired) @ Jun 19th 2009 9:26PM
Um, I'm the one holding the loaded COCKED gun... dick.
kylelipp @ Jun 20th 2009 11:02AM
If this phone actually looked liked the "G1v2" mockup(man i wish it was real) that was on Eng a few weeks ago, I would say you were right. That did look like an iPhone with a keyboard.
With that color scheme, it's clearly aimed at a younger demo. If it has a good processor, then I'll be all over, I'm diggin on that d'pad on the bottom, looks usable for game emulation. This is not a perfect looking phone, but hey, no chin...... and that's uhm... can't really think of anything else positive to say....
newjaruz @ Jun 19th 2009 5:40PM
I don't know about that pepsi blue color. The device look hmmm ... ok... but its not great looking at all.
BlurMagic @ Jun 19th 2009 5:42PM
Nexxxxtttt.
i7500 or Huawei please.
justin @ Jun 19th 2009 5:44PM
Hmm wheres the mandatory home, menu, call, end, and back hardware buttons.... i think the phone is prob real but prob not running android.. maybe just propritary OS..
reyes2007 @ Jun 19th 2009 6:06PM
The home button looks to be inside the blue circle.
chefgon_ign @ Jun 19th 2009 7:10PM
Android requires Home, Back, and Menu buttons at the absolute minimum. Having one home button inside a blue circle isn't good enough, it would render the vast majority of programs unusable.
They could get away without the Call and End buttons as long as they replaced the built in phone dialer with a custom one that had on-screen controls instead, but Menu and Back are flat out required by too many programs to just leave them out.
Pizzaboy192 @ Jun 19th 2009 8:33PM
browse this image on an LCD screen, then either tilt it (Laptop) or move your head down whilst looking at the bottom white bar on the phone, you can see the text\images for the other buttons, it is definately andriod material.
Brian @ Jun 20th 2009 12:12AM
pizzaboy's right, you can barely see little pictures. They almost look like smudges.
iDavey @ Jun 19th 2009 5:45PM
1.) That screen is looking pretty small to me.
2.) The color scheme is ugly as hell!
3.) Seriously???
I mean...can we get something from Moto that is for us grown folks?
I mean...I want the Huawei U8230...but if their keyboard is as ugly as someone stated it is...I want nothing to do with it.
But can some manufacturer give us a nice looking device, great Android experience, nice processor, camera, graphics, and 3.5+ screen.
That's all I ask for...all I ask for! ='[
profitablechoy50 @ Jun 19th 2009 6:02PM
what do you mean?
iDavey @ Jun 19th 2009 6:16PM
About what?
Amon @ Jun 19th 2009 5:51PM

oghowie @ Jun 19th 2009 5:56PM
I can see kids with Sidekicks buying this. Do people still buy Sidekicks?
Greg N. @ Jun 19th 2009 5:58PM
Sidekicks are the most popular in inner-city urban areas.
where u at? @ Jun 19th 2009 5:58PM
Sweet dancing Jesus.
Dane @ Jun 19th 2009 5:59PM
T-Mobile has by far the ugliest phone lineup ever.
jay jay @ Jun 19th 2009 6:02PM
there coming out with the touchpro 2 , my touch3g, and the samsung i8700 (or whatever that samsung android phone is called) i wouldn't say there line up is ugly.
skyblaze @ Jun 19th 2009 6:03PM
for a second i thought that said mini-slut >.
Brady @ Jun 20th 2009 12:09AM
Mini-slut? Now that's a phone I could get behind.
liv @ Jun 19th 2009 6:04PM
The cool kid with an iPhone or a Pre is going to destroy the young Motorola die-hard fanboi's adolescence... If you're gonna convince your mom you really need a smartphone with enhanced social networking features... at leas convince her to buy you an iPhone.
OR... buy a regular phone and spend the extra money talking to and MAYBE f* girls instead of trying to get a date on twitter!
mirakutea @ Jun 19th 2009 6:26PM
it costs money to talk to girls? o.O
BlurMagic @ Jun 19th 2009 8:45PM
Yeah...
I dunno who buys a phone to talk to girls...
Generally i just go up to them and introduce myself...
It's free. And you don't look like a fuckin stalker.
liv @ Jun 20th 2009 5:21AM
It's free to talk to them... maybe a little extra to f* some of them... some might do it for free... but when everything fails... you sure as hell gonna need that money to go to hookers :P
jinushaun @ Jun 19th 2009 6:07PM
Looks bulky as hell. There's a reason people still haven't built a decently thin slide-out landscape keyboard phone.
brainyguy120 @ Jun 19th 2009 6:10PM
Finally, a device that makes the G1 look good!
Clyde Berry @ Jun 19th 2009 6:14PM
Looks like a hit for the under-18 set. They love shiny, gaudy crap. I know I did.
mirakutea @ Jun 19th 2009 6:25PM
Will I be able to buy one in the UK?
mirakutea @ Jun 19th 2009 6:28PM
The only 'messaging' phone I can find in the UK is the LG KS360 :[.
no LG EnV, no samsung alias, no sidekick etc.
Phoenix @ Jun 19th 2009 6:46PM
we have the sidekick...
ddub @ Jun 19th 2009 6:27PM
Shorting Motorola stock on Monday.
ddub @ Jun 19th 2009 6:28PM
and only because the color. to release this color scheme give me no faith in the intellect of the management.
Marco @ Jun 19th 2009 6:32PM
The lower profits of MOTOROLA hit them in the head. I was Surprised to see the Qwerty phone RIVAL on the verizon site last week. lol
