Kohjinsha SK3 convertible UMPC adds Windows 7 support, excitement, and danger

We know what you're thinking: sure, lime green netbooks are fun, but when is Kohjinsha going to revisit that dapper little SC3 convertible UMPC that won our hearts way back in the summer of '08? You're so predictable -- and you're in luck! According to the cats at a little UMPC portal we like to call UMPC Portal, the newly re-jiggered Kohjinsha SK3 sports subtle design differences (including a new WiFi module that brings 802.11n to the table), but otherwise the same ol' 1.3GHz Menlow processor, GPS, SD card slot, VGA out, and LAN of its predecessor. If that weren't enough, this device contains two cameras and Windows 7 support. No word yet on price or a release date on this beauty -- or whether or not it will sport a HDD or SSD drive. But we do have one more lovely promo shot for you after the break.

that leather case is not very tasteful...IMO
"that leather case is not very tasteful...IMO"
Then stop chewing on the damn thing.
unless this means "windows 7 multitouch support", what's so awesome? Why wouldn't the old one support 7, since it doesn't seem to be any less powerful?
Seriously.
BREAKING NEWS: Cars now support the use of tires!
Drivers.
what the heck!
"Kohjinsha SK3 convertible UMPC adds Windows 7 support, excitement, and danger"
Doesn't that mean you just said: "and AND danger"? The cute internet blog entry that uses newspaper jargon/technique thing just broke down....
Hey, this is good for ebay in exchange for food!!!
Lemme get one of these!!
Kojinsha are weird machines size wise. They're way too small to touch type but too big to thumb type. They should nix the keyboard and add a split onscreen thumb keyboard. That would also make 'em a lot thinner.
Is this thing even cheap?
I really hope they put the N280 in the SX3. They also should sell it in North America.
It's a friggin' 9" netbook convertible tablet with an optical drive!
I Have to say i "LOVE" My sc3.Bought it conics. i take it everywhere. Its quick well built and a very stable machine. i love running photoshop on it (2gb ram). The typing is kind hard, on a 7in'er, if your going to be typing alot. But i have no problem. Chose the sc3 over the viao p cause i "Hate" That patheic point ball as a mouse. bleck. the Viao p keyboard is much better then the sc3 but i hate that trackball. yuck. Wish the tv would work in both japan and us.... that would be awsome.... i would make love to this machine if it had the right hole...im on the couch everynight with it.... but in the hopefull future.... i see the Viliv s7 being my next love affair. with the promise of a faster processor, hd video , 3g
I have had the SC3 KX for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it. I don't know any other device that for less than $400 can be a full tablet PC plus double as an ereader that you can hold in one hand.
Downside is that even if you turn off wi-fi you're still lucky if you get 3 hours out of the battery.
I am running Win 7 on mine right now and it works like a charm. I had to add the drivers myself. Maybe that is what Kohjinsha is talking about...the correct drivers are going to be included on the Win7 DVD when it ships.
The SK3 is now the SX4 in the UK ... www.kjs-uk.com W7 runs well on it!
The SC3 is also still available but seems there is a new little device just around the corner from the SC3.... and for those who are after something bigger...there is now an 11.6'' tablet available at a very respectable price!!! Keep an eye out on the UK site for the release!
Extended life batteries are available on all the models for those who need longer time!
the new SC3 is called the S23 in the UK and its stunning!
Will be up on the UK site very soon!
