Sneak peek at Meizu M8's new user interface

Heads up, Meizu fanboys! We just got a sneak peak at the M8's new UI (said to be dropping in August when the handset gets its firmware update) and you know what? It looks like a UI. Pretty k-rad, right? Check out the other two face-melting pics after the break, if you dare.

Says a lot about Palm's UI that this lot have become more (*cough!) "inspired" by it than the iPhone's design.
it may look good but you need to feel how responsive it is... it won't be good if the whole thing lags, IYKWIM.
IKWYM.
Acronym. Stands for "If you know what I mean". Mainly used in instant messaging conversations. Can also be used in conjunction with "AITYD" (and I think you do).
This is a prime example of how ridiculous internet abbreviations for chat / forum / messaging are getting.

The language of young people today tsk tsk. Im 18 and when i hear all these new fang dangled abbreviations it makes me feel old and out of touch :-P
I thought i was cool learning lol and lmao in my day :-P
My biggest peeve apart from abbreviations i dont understand is PeOpLe WhO TaLk LiKe ThIs.
Whats with all the "this is nice for a knockoff" comments? I've been living in China for a year now and this is obviously NOT a knockoff, NOT a KIRF. Yes, they make some pretty slick looking I-phone and Samsung knockoffs here, but the harware sucks and the UI is usually only half-copied with the home/today screen about as much of the original UI that you see. The M8 however has a nice case, nice hardware, and a a complete UI thats about as much of a copy from the I-phone as some of LG's phones (cant remember the models). Additionally, it has the price point to match. The KIRF I-phones you see run about 500-700 RMB which is approximately $75-$100. The M8 runs about $2100 RMB last I checked which is a little over $300.
Simple and elegant, all devices are starting to look this way and I like it.
Holy Shit! This GUI is groundbreaking! It will the change industry forever, it will change society, it will change everything as we know it!!! Never in the history of mankind has a GUI been so incredibly awesome!!!
看起来不错噢~继续努力~~
Speak English or get out!!!!
Or you can learn some Chinese, it might do you some good, for starters, you won't be so pissed and rude.
or you can just nod your head and go "yep i totally agree"
learn some Chinese , dude.
Translation: It doesn't look bad, continue to work hard on it.
copy the best of best?
ya sounds easy doesn't it.Tell that to windows mobile.......
I really like the icons, especially the music and record one..... I know that was not the greatest comment, but I felt that I needed to say it.
As for the interface looking like it was stolen, I have to say that even my old motorolla phone (2003) had an icon set up like such, along with the top bar. As for the bar on the bottom, that was on all the palm pilots back in the day. Basically everyone has been copying each other, and we should get over it.
............. ...that's great
nice if only they had a bottom scrolling bar i see apple and android
So my comments aren't showing up... I'll try again. It would be nice if thos theme was released on winterboard.
I think so.
But fact is copy is evolution.
Once up on a time.
There is company call Acorn Computers made think call Iconbar.
Then some thing call Kde - Kicker
Then Windows - Quick Launch and Gnome - Panel (i don't know witch one first).
Then Apple modify it and call Dock.
After that Microsoft modify it for windows 7 and call Super Bar.
+1 Epics for mentioning Acorn Computers. Not only did they invent ARM but they made some kickass hardware for the time. I have an A5000! Win :D
it makes the iphone look dated....
Your point in sound, over the years the lines blur between who is copying and who is innovating.
That said, I think you have it all a little muddled.
A cursory glance at Wikipedia reveals that the NeXTSTEP Dock was first launched in 1988, almost a decade before the KDE project even started. You also missed that the Windows 1.0 Dock, launched in 1983, again a few years before Acorn's “Iconbar”.

Not bad....
I would like to put this onto the i8910 HD.
Do want.
Calender? Really?
I guess asians are destined to make spelling mistakes everywhere, even when you think all your base are belong to us.
wow这新闻 是主站也有啊 我是M8用户 o(∩_∩)o...
it looks like a set of Windows XP replacement icons you would find on deviantart ca. 2001.
Anybody have that wallpaper? It looks like a nice GUI even if it does draw from other sources.
If they could actually make one of those with USA 3G bands, and use their low upfront manu cost to sell them at a reasonable rate unlocked (199 USD) shipped. I for one would love to be able to pick one of these up to play around with while I traveled. The nice thing about China is, they don't have to deal with many of those pesky American patents, so there is a chance someday, all the cool things you get from each brand of phone (The insane Nokia batteries, the Iphone screen, the Sony Cameras, open Android OS) could be put together by a Chinese OEM and you could actually end up with a pretty sweet Franken phone that you could pick up cheap.
Don't underestimate a culture that's been around for 1,000s of years, anyone who think's the Chinese are stupid have another thing coming. While much of the crap that comes out of China's OEMs is junk, you are starting to see the quality of the upper tier OEMs getting better and better.
No edit function
I meant 299 USD, no way were getting it cheaper imported then they are local. My bad.
I still think if they managed to work over the whole UI to be responsive, and give us some of the cool things Chinese home grown phones get (Dual SIMs, Micro SD slots, swappable battery) it would be a neat device.
anyone else noticed they misspelled calendar in the UI? typical...
