Averatec debuts thin-and-light N3400 laptop

Averatec's already rolled out not one but two all-in-one desktops this month, but it looks like it's also found the time to churn out this fairly impressive looking thin-and-light laptop, which takes a few cues from the nettbook side of things and few from some pricier pastures. Weighing in at less than four pounds, the N3400 laptop packs the usual 13.3-inch screen, along with a slightly underwhelming Pentium Dual Core T3400 processor, plus 3GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and integrated Intel GMA X4500HD graphics -- not to mention a bundled external DVD burner. As you might expect, this one also packs a price tag right between netbooks and some higher-end ultraportables, with it setting you back $799. Hit up the gallery below for a closer look.

Averatec, eh? I would expect it to be made of cardboard and wood.
Only the finest cardboard, granted
Isn't this just a rebadged MSI?
I've noticed much of Averatec's notebooks are rebadged from MSI or Twinhead.
Silver body, black hinge? Companies need to get creative and stop ripping off Apple.
And yet Apple "ripped-off" the isolated, gapped keyboard style from Sony from the X505 back in 2004. They also "ripped-off" the Macbook Air from the X505 as well.
I have a 2002 emachine laptop that look like a "modern" MacBook Pro. Everyone copies everyone else including Apple.
Yeah, except the keyboard on the X505 is garbage... well, come to think of it, the whole system is garbage.
That looks like iBook's hinge design, I'm not suprised that it became the industry standard. After all, they are reliable and state of the art.
Add $50 to the price, and you can get a Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 processor.

2 in 1 feature - lightweight and thin... impressive Averatec Laptop
Maybe $100 cheaper, but the added dvd drive is really nice
its been 4 years, maybe its time for another super cheap Black Friday Averatec deal
Ohh...snap!
Engadamn comment system, that should have been in response to The "i".
Wow, I would sacrifice the light weight for a more powerful laptop. At this price you can score a much powerful laptop.
I prefer a lighter/thinner notebook over one with more power.
Everybody is different I guess. ;)
Whoa, just stepped into an apple fanboy circle-jerk, eww. Nice laptop, slim with good specs and great price, now all I want to know is how the battery life fairs and im sold!
You must not be familiar with Averatec's reputation for hardware quality.
