Lenovo slips out IdeaPad U450p, won't let you order one
Hey Lenovo, that's a pretty sweet landing page you've got there for this newfangled IdeaPad U450p. In fact, we're crushing pretty hard on that glossy 14-inch display, ultrathin frame and patterned lid. If you're really looking for candor, we'd even go so far as to say that the "energy-efficient ULV processor" and "integrated optical drive" have us all sorts of hot and bothered, but the inability to actually see a full build sheet or order a unit for ourselves is simply disheartening. Care to fix that? Thank you so much.

You're either trolling, or hopelessly obsessed with brand of computers to the point that you are trying to compare an ultraportable to a macbook pro. I suppose I'll take the bait and exclaim on end how much better a deal a Lenovo T500 is than a macbook air, because the T500 has much better specs for less money. Dumb comparison much.
Or the hefty price tag for average, off the shelve hardware
Trrrrrrollllllllllll
I've always been fascinated by the macbook pro but never made the switch because I'm uncertain about the software that can be used in its OS since I've been using windows for all of my life. The only problem that I have with window's counterparts (specifically 13.3 and 14") to macs (specifically the 13" macbookpro) is that in general, they never seem to get as slim, portable, core2duo (not the 1.4ghz, at least 2ghz), DDR3 ram, have a good battery life, 9400m or have a minimalistic beauty to them (having a flat design rather than tapered like the dell xps 13 is soo much better in my opinion). Are there any window's laptops which fit this criteria? specifically core2duo, integrated graphics which aren't intel i.e using 9400m and having a thin chasis?
not really...vaio z probably closest but is still a bit of a door wedge
Only tens of thousands...
#1Pick any Apple model, that you would like to buy.
#2Pick a random computer manufacturer.
#3Check their offer.
#4Choose their closest model (for half the price) instead of the overpriced, unibody-crap, no removable battery, if-anything-goes-wrong-I-got-to pay-$500-to-just-get-my-f*******-documents-back piece of crap from apple.
#5 Profit ?
I can troll too, so cut the crap, macbook ain't no good deal on the hardware side.
They use Intel core 2 duo 2.0 Ghz... Do you know how much CPU have these specs ?
T7200 T6400 T5750 T5800 L7800 and P7370
That's 6 different CPU with price range from 1 to triple.
Let's try this again.
Easy solution. Just get a Macbook Pro and a copy of Windows. Use Bootcamp.
Well the Lenovo T400s is thinner and lighter than the Macbook Pro. It also has a removable keyboard, Blu Ray optional, WWAN optional, and offers you the choice between a card reader and an Expresscard slot. It has the Intel integrated graphics, but if you're not doing gaming it'll be just fine (and laptops suck at games anyway.)
I agree. The only thing that excels in that department is the Vaio Z but that costs twice as much as its thicker alternatives. Guess I'm gonna go for the new Inspiron 13 even though its about 0.2 inches thicker than it should be.
@Jacob
Last time I checked, the T400 has a thickness 1.1-1.3" which is thicker than a macbookpro 0.95"...
@Alvin
T400s == slimmer T400

Yeah, I see what you mean. QWERTY keyboard.. opens up like a clam.. has a screen. Definitely looks just like a MacBook Pro.
Shame its.. frame isn't attached to its body? I never did understand how I took that MacBook Pro apart that one time.. I felt so deceived.

Reply button broken?
is integrated optical drive on a 14 inch laptop supposed to be special?
In the race to make notebooks thinner, manufacturers have begun removing integrated optical drives.
Easy solution. Just get a Macbook Pro and a copy of Windows. Use Bootcamp.
doesn't it defeat the purpose of using bootcamp if the mac os x is the panacea to windows and all other oses out there? might as well get a hackintosh...
Maybe so...but does the Pro have a "nice" display?
DUDE! that patterned lid, is bitchin!!!
I want to get one, I bought a HP G60 intel C2D t6400 and while its a decent processor in a laptop i paid 469.99 for, I think I could use a Nvidia GTS card. with mayb a intel centrino 2 t9xxx.
If this is only get put out a ULV processor then that sux, but i really like how thin seems to be
Go to Ideapad U series and to the compare tab for more info:

Looks like core2 duo and discrete GPU options. That would be sweet.
Wow!
You compared a computer that isn't for sale yet to one that is! I mean, Lenovo hasn't even released a spec sheet yet, and you've somehow figured out that the Mac is superior.
Obvious troll is obvious.
Why do they always pair nice processors with crappy Intel graphics?
Dell Studio 14z = most bang for buck
