Here's something fun to start your weekend with. Amazon's German site now has a listing for "
PlayStation 3 Konsole slim" from Sony Computer Entertainment, and really, it doesn't take years of foreign language class to figure out that English translation. It's listed as "platform independent" (har) and has its own Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN), but on the flip side, we're lacking a picture, release date, or any other tangible details. Can't say we've got a feel for the site's track record on random listings, but after all the
rumors and possible sightings as of late, it really makes ya wonder.
Update: In case you're wondering about that picture that now appears in the listing, it looks like a fan render that a customer has uploaded to Amazon.

What the hell are you talking about?! The PS3 has plenty of good games and I have never had an issue with the online service. Have you ever played one? Do you own one? I doubt it. I had an xbox and I hated it, there are no games on xbox that I want to play that i can't get on playstation. PLUS How big is your harddrive? Cuz mine is 400g with multiple movies, all of my music, and half a dozen games all installed. I'm sorry but the "ps3 has no games" argument is tired. As for the online stuff, it's free and as i said, no issues. Get a life...

i'll admit i'm a pretty big Xbox fan, but you have to be realistic. a majority of 360 and PS3 games are cross-platform, so they share a large portion of their libraries. also, the PS3 exclusives are starting to surpass 360 exclusives in graphical quality (not by a big margin, but it's there).
about the article, it's a given that Sony will release a PS3 Slim, it's just a question of when (quite possibly by the end of this year).
Its okay though, Light Speed is so stupid to calculate that after buying every single accessory for his xbox it actually came out more expensive than buying a PS3, so I'm guessing he failed math.

As an owner of both consoles I can say that the ps3 does not compare with the xbox 360.
the first-party games, like gears 2 and halo 3 are unbeatable
Also, the online is ten times better on live.

I am no fanboy, and have stuck with Sony enough to actually buy a ps3.
Also, I'm not saying that the ps3 sucks, just the 360 is pure awesomeness in a box.

m3mphis: not for me. if i were to buy a 360 now, it would cost less than a PS3. when people like you make that argument you're assuming i need all those things. personally i have my 360 hard-wired to my router, so i have no need for wifi. the Pro has a 60 GB HDD, so i'd be covered there. throw in one or two play and charge kits, and its still less than a PS3. i can't think of anything else that would be missing. PS3 just forces you to pay for wifi.

As someone who's been a PC gamer all his life and has never owned a console, this post tickled my funny bone in a very good way. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em :D
ps3 is good i must admit, but xbox live makes psn look like an ass muching fest. Ps3 started to churn out good games, but honestly kz2 was horrendous
I used to be a huge Xbox 360 fanboy until I bought a PS3. Now I think the PS3 is much better.

Yeah, PC definitely has both beat but I can't even come close to being able to afford a really good gaming rig so... PS3 for me; It's the next best thing.

Gears is not that good playing it on hardcore difficulty is just unrealistic... such as scoring ten headshots does not kill something even with a machine gun the size of a man? I have Gears 1, i did play through it bot could not finish it, although there are some enjoyable rounds and the addition of unreal engine 3 adds to it, overall there is just some things like melee's being completely dodgy along with your character being so damn cluggy (not Unreal Engines fault, i don't remember UT3 being this bad) Halo 3? really.
Do i think stated games are better then Killzone 2? or MGS 4. NOPE.

No way I will rebuy a "Konsole" to have it be a bit smaller. It's not like I'll be carrying it around. I would hate to have to deal with the extra heat build up as well. I don't assume they'll find a way to knock that down. I would like to see a complete redesign though. I never really liked the PS3 look. I'd rather have the look of my PS2 back ,but more modern looking. I liked those lines.

The Jasper and Falcon 360's weren't a product refresh like the PS3 Slim is. It was a product improvement to improve how they product runs, the lifetime of the product, and the price needed to manufacture the product.
Microsoft never really announced any of these, and they sold at the same price as the regular xbox 360's.
However, you are right about the elite. It was little more then a more expensive console. (With a few changes such as HDD space.)
This is gay, why such a interest in the slim version. Its the same exact hardware just slimmer. Which I think wasnt needed. It wont play any better and games wont look any better. It may drop in price it may not. I dont understand the interest in it. I like my PS3 just the way it is. Shiny, fat and black, like I like my men, LOLOL.

The interest is in the fact that some consumer's actually do buy hardware for aesthetic reason's too. I know lots of people who buy electronics such as consoles, hdtv's and stereo's based on color to match the home decor instead of the specs of the hdtv. Same as why people went nuts over the black xbox 360 besides the inclusion of Hdmi it also came in black.
I'm pretty sure the PS3 is female, that slot on the front leaves NOTHING to the imagination! :)
It's really about cost savings. With a smaller unit you use less material for manufacturing, packaging and transportation costs.
