DRM is removed from public domain books, and you'll never see it removed from books that are still under copyright. It won't happen. Publishers won't let it happen, not for Kindle, not for Sony, not for anyone. The books you buy from Sony's e-book store are just as DRM'd as the ones from Amazon.
The PDF support on the DX is proper, AFAIK. So WTF are you talking about?
Amazon doesn't delete from your machine; They delete from your online library and your machine syncs to match it. If they remove the book from the online library, then it's gone. No problem, though-- As has been said MANY times over, you can download every book you buy to your PC, and Amazon cannot delete it, alter it, or stop you from re-syncing it with Whispernet turned off.
And again, Bezos has said it won't happen that way again. It was probably ONE idiot in the company's legal department who did that, and the whole company (and the device) don't deserve to be judged based on a single incident.
I should also note that the books weren't just deleted; They were returned for refund. Everyone who had one got their money back, as well as an apology from Bezos. Nobody was screwed. The people who lost their "1984" could go right back into the Kindle store and purchase another (legitimate) copy with the refunded money.
Seriously, this "DRM IS TEH EVIL!" stuff is just annoying. It won't go away. If you want to pirate books and put them on your Kindle (as if you even own one), you can. You're not locked into Amazon's store.
"I'm moving to a small studio and for some reason the cable connection is in an awkward place and I need a way to transmit HD quality video and audio no more than 20 feet away. What is the best wireless HDMI transmitter / receiver for this situation? Thanks!"
