Disney Netpal finally up for pre-order, ships this week
We've waited... oh, how we've waited! After two long, torturous months of anticipation, Disney is finally letting the "Magic Blue" and "Princess Pink" Netpal netbooks out to play with us. Featuring the zaniest paintjobs this side of the RilakKuma, customized XP themes, shell control for parents and no shortage of magic dust, the two machines are available to order now for $350 with deliveries likely by next week.

I like pink
Hi! Very interesting blog. Cheers!
I wonder if this will attract the
You accidentally the whole thing.
what is this i dont
I have two cousins who'd love these but $350 is a bit steep. I could nix the pink and get two HP Mini Notes.
The POINT is, it's a pink, pretty, "enhanced" DISNEY netbook for kids.
It's not the same as handing them a HP Mini Note with WinXP and saying "Have fun kiddos!"
Don't let my daughter know. Please don't let my daughter know.
Mark
Mark, I told your daughter...sorry.
Does the magic dust come from Columbian Fairies because if so sign me up for 2 of 'em?
oh joy!
/Sarcasm
I now own Disney stock, so each of you must buy 12.
Oh god, I want one!
I mean, uhh... I'll get one manly alienware laptop instead?
diiiiiiisney
This will probably be loaded with lots of Disney spyware.
LOL
Not all kids like something this atrocious looking I'm sure. Where is the Spiderman version? :P
I want to buy one of these for work. That way when someone comes back to IT saying they forgot their laptop at home and seeing if they can borrow one for the day I can hand them this and laugh!
Wow, a Disney themed netbook (obviously targeted towards kids) with spinning platters (hard-drives) in it. Talk about returns/calling tech support in no time. Would a kid really need 160GB of storage? A small SSD would make more sense.
@pika2000
Actually they have 2 models available apparently. One with a 16 GB SSD and the other with the 160 GB HD.
too bad other sites were already on top of this more than a month ago!

Windows 7 is RTM. The bits are finished. Why do these have XP?!?!?!?!
these have XP because of the customized Disney themed interface and apps. 7 is too new for extended skinning options and support yet, not to mention that XP still benchmarks better for lower end portables like netbooks. then there is the licensing costs for OEMs. the cost of this thing would go up if it were bundled with 7. and even though most versions of the final RTM are available to OEMs (and everyone else via torrents) MS has a contractual deal with most, including ASUS, that netbooks running windows 7 from the factory will be running a partially crippled and watered down version made just for netbooks.
But will it run HML?
