Is Sony Ericsson eyeing the netbook market?

According to a "reliable" source cited by Netbook News, the mobile phone manufacturer / adorable couple known as Sony Ericsson is looking to follow Nokia into the netbook (or is that "smartbook?") market. There's not much more to this story at present, although it does make sense -- so we'll take it, with the proverbial grain of salt. And while we're on the subject, does anyone have any more info on the PlayStation Phone?

so does this mean the Free Sony Ericsson Laptop email I got 3 years ago was true?!?!?
How about SonyEricsson eyeing the cell phone market? They've been doing such a poor job in the handset market. They should try being successful at one thing before jumping onto another.
amen
beat me to it..
They are already in deep doodle with their primary market and think now is a good time to diversify into an already crowded market?
Sort your dam phones out!
Highly sophisticated 'shopped pic :D
Ummmm They need to just be focusing on a PSPhone...damn the rest....they want to sell a Million+ phones in a day?? They better do it
agreed
Google for the Satio's gaming capabilities. I guarantee ya, you'd be pleasantly surprised.
This makes no sense at all...l
Sony has already entered the netbook market why would they bring in SE ?
Sony Ericsson also make a 3.5G USB modem, it would make sense if they released a notebook with a HSDPA modem inbuilt as such few devices have them integrated these days. It still surprises me that even though ASUS/MSI/Acer have a tonne of models that few if any have 3G inbuilt.
Anyway, if they pitched it at a competitive price with the 3G modem inbuilt a lot of phone stores would bundle their services with the netbook and it would be a success. Even though I'd probably prefer a USB 3G dongle at this stage (share between computers) it would be good to see it inbuilt for those who want maximum portability and minimum fuss.
Sony will make netbooks, Sony Ericsson will make Smartbooks probably running Android or Windows CE 6
Yea, must of been a mix up and they didn't feel like correcting it with a footnote.
lol...maybe it slipped out a little too early....lol
and you KNOW this will be deleted right??
Maybe they got another tip about it two seconds later than gizmodo and felt that they had been beaten to the story... although this usually doesn't stop the Engadget writers normally so not sure.
Is Sony Ericsson eyeing chapter 11?
Will it actually be affordable and not hideously overpriced like every other Sony notebook? (I'm guessing no).
What are smartbooks and do they even exist yet?

Bad Sony, BAD! Go to your room! Stringer himself talked in an interview about separate branches of Sony creating the same product. He also noted he was going to resolve that issue. C'mon Howie, pull through...
Talk about product overlap. Sony already have a netbook with the Vaio W. Why would SE do this? This is the problem with Sony, it's like nobody talk or even look at each other.
What are you talking about?
Sony (without Ericsson) already has a netbook that's already available in many parts of Asia and now available in Europe!
Problem is.. USA isn't one of the "major" markets!
Sure we get "some" items but it ALWAYS appears that MOST of the GOOD stuff is ONLY available in Asia or in Europe!
